Sorry this is a rant. But I do not understand why everyone is saying that it is easy to chat up women and get ates in Thailand. I am experiencing totally the opposite. While I do agree that Thai girls are more friendly and open to meet people than girls in Western Europe, they are very materialistic and do not give much interest in a low earning executive.

I have known guys who have gone to and lived in Thailand who had no luck with women there. A lot of guys are only able to get p4p there. Sounds like it's just like anywhere else, the women are picky and only care about a man's wealth and looks.

Just basically means an office employee with an average Thai salary. I guess in Thailand the High income, Hansome, tall Height also applies.

To most people "executive" sounds like an extremely exalting title but contrary to what you have seen on TV, most executives are not rich men in business suits that ride around in limos and live in luxury apartments. There are plenty of people who run very small businesses, work long hours, and have less take home pay than the average blue collar worker. Even if you just run a business that employs a couple of part time workers, you're technically an executive. I have had friends who have done that in the past because they hated the idea of working for other people and wanted to be an entrepreneur, but most ended up falling flat on their face within a couple of years and went right back into the rat race.

The OP is probably just one of those executives of a very small business. The emphasis was on the "low earning" part and he probably just said he was an executive because it was a quick way to describe what he said without getting into any further detail as it would be irrelevant to the theme of this thread, which is that he can't get a woman in Thailand because he doesn't earn enough money and the women are very materialistic. After all, income is what matters to women, not the job title itself.

What I am basically saying is that normal university absolved girls would not give me the time of the day. The higher the education the more standards they have. Women with the same slaray level as me tend to go clubbing and expect me to spend expensive dinners and clubbing so I cannot afford that. Women are known to be hypergamous, so these office women usually tend to go with manager types or doctors or lawyers. Guess I will have to settle with departments stores employee types but they are also very materialistic and thats crazy. Imagine a depatment store clerk gets 9,000 Baht salary but feels the need to have an ipad for 20,000 Baht. That explains it all.

It applies everywhere. Those are the only attributes women actually care about when looking for a man, especially the handsome and high income parts. They can always be picky because they're always getting plenty of offers even if they're poor and ugly.

Are you in Bkk? I've had moderate success here. I was doing better in China, and dare I say it, but I'd probably do better back at home.

A clue was in this week's Stickman Weekly article. He said that Thai girls like FUN which is true, and they're turned off by serious guys. Maybe that's why geeks don't do so well here, particularly when dating 8's or above.

Well the good news is that serious guys are much more popular in China. Maybe in other SE Asian countries as well. 3 out of the 4 smartest women I've dated here haven't been Thai - they've been from Vietnam, the Philippines and Myanmar. Hmm, a pattern is emerging...

And I'm not sure I'd like to marry a fun loving woman either. I've met a few women here who have been totally stupid with my money (well and their own money as well).

Well I'm happy to keep living here as it could well be the best big city in the world to live in. It's affordable, there's a lot to see and do. And if you don't have a girlfriend well you can just go to a bar and find some entertaining company for the evening. Just live in the moment like Thais do.

How long have you been living in Thailand and do you speak any Thai?

There have been times when I lived here where I made very little and times when I made quite a lot. When I had very little I barely had enough money to pay the bills and had no money to take women out. Once in a while I landed one but when I had money, I had more women than I could handle. You've got to be willing to take them out, show them a good time, take them places they might not otherwise be able to go. That gets your foot in the door.

Listen, I don't care where you are, if you're trying to date 8's and above you better have a bit of game, be decent looking, and know a thing or two about how to deal with Thai women. Either that or you should be young, handsome, and a bit of a hunk.

What I always found is that regularly going to the same places where there are good looking women working once or twice a week gives you the time you need to get to know them. I used to have a couple restaurants and banks that had women I liked working in them. After a couple of weeks, the girls start to get comfortable and it gets easier to go out with them. I've done this at 7'11's, Pizza Hut's, and various other places. Even now there are perfume girls, girls who work at coffee shops, markets, and in the grocery who I see regularly and I'm fairly certain if I pulled the trigger at least half of them would be good to go.

Bottom line is money talks and it's a necessary evil. Most guys are unable to work as a teacher or other job making 30-40K a month and land a smoking hot Thai chick for the long-term. That doesn't afford much extra money and if you don't have much to spend, what are you going to expect? Even the most decent Thai women want to know they can go out to a nice restaurant once in a while and that takes money. One woman I began getting to know worked at a little cosmetics store. I took her out twice. She flat out told me she was ready to f**k - if our first time was at the Marriott. She wanted the first time to be special for her with flowers on the bed, etc. We got drunk and that was that.

Yes, you've been living here for a few months now but you don't speak Thai (that I know of), you're a self-admitted geek who meets women online in a country where the women are among the easiest to speak with even if you don't know the language, and it sounds to me like you haven't learned jackshit. Believe me, once you start paying them or giving them money, their perception completely changes. You don't need to GIVE them shit unless they're a whore or you reach an agreement to pay them a certain amount every month. This is possible. Come right out and tell them, "I'll pay your rent and electric but you need to come see me 2x per week." In other words, they need to be sleeping with you.

So what if they want a 20,000 baht iPad - NEXT. Tell her, "Oh, you want to buy me an iPad? Thank you so much." If she pitches a fit or gets and attitude, throw her ass out the door or tell her to move the f**k on. It's that simple. Frankly, unless they've won me over I could give a shit about what they want. We all have things we want - doesn't mean we're going to get those things.

WrongFred - Some women are materialistic, definitely. Note I didn't say some Thai women are materialistic. It has nothing to do with their being Thai. If you don't want the ones who are materialistic, find one that isn't materialistic. It's not easy but finding a good woman to hook up with is never truly easy.

This is Asia, you're the man, and the women expect you to act like it. That means none of this being shy shit, none of this texting or calling them all the time.

For the record, the smartest chick I've ever met in Asia was Singaporean. She was a model and extremely intelligent. Very nice girl too and always fun to be with.

Believe it or not some of us actually want wives we can talk to that respect us and enjoy our company, rather than baby making, house cleaning maid slaves that speak when spoken to. I would not marry a woman if I thought I would need other women to satisfy me down the road, there just wouldn't be any point in it.

Still, it was a worthwhile suggestion until wrongfred stated otherwise, there are a lot of guys who would be okay with that.

I agree. People think that here in Thailand women are tolerant of guys messing around on them. They are if they want your money, some can turn the other cheek if it's not put in front of them, but most will chop your cock off or leave you in seconds flat if you screw around.
