Random Medieval History Thread

I'm a medieval history buff since I was in grade school. I felt like making this thread because the only 'history' threads here are about modern America, which roughly existed for over 200 years, which barely qualifies for any true historical mention.
Discuss anything, from the Fall of the Western Empire to the Fall of the Byzantine Greeks...
Somehow I feel that medieval history has been the greatest impact on the cultures of the world today, compared to the other eras in history...
