The American education system is sadly inadequate. It is designed to cater to the lowest of students. Plus teachers are generally those that couldn't cut it in other fields, rather than those with a real gift for teaching. If I ever have children, private school or homeschooling will be the way to go.

Thanks for reminding me that I need to be reading Fred regularly. I had misplaced him for a while. He's really on his stomping ground with the subject of education. The schools truly are just that bad. Feminized hells.
