The marine got drunk at a Philippines bar and didn't discover his new "girlfriend" was a guy until the next morning and then flipped out. Forced his head into the toilet until he drowned.

Here it comes: it's going to be some whole big thing on the militart being oppressive to transgender (which, personally, I don't think should exist- if someone's gay then they're gay, but science shouldn't be f***ing around with the human body).

Ghost pretty much summed it up.
When I was in the Ping-Pong district in BKK back in 2007, I have noticed a drunk-a.ss Aussie dude stumbling and s.hit and a Mariah-Carey-ladyboy look-a-like trying to entice him.
He looked at me, "Dude, you see this s.hit! That ladyboy thinks I'm too drunk to know better! Ha!" and he stumbled on.
Seems like the US Marine should have gotten drunk and compared notes with the stumbling guy for precursor's sake.

Ha reminds me of when I was staying at the Dusit Thani last in Manila. A bunch of Marines were staying there the night before. I get approached by two highly obvious ladyboys asking me where my friend was. I was puzzled and told them they were mistaken who I was. They argued with me telling me I was in the Army and me and my friend hung out with them the night before. I giggled as I got into a cab.

To be fair to the US Marine, the transgender prostitute ladyboy took advantage of a drunk American soldier. That's the risk of not being honest upfront. Death by toliet drowning. LOL!

The article says, "Filipino transgender woman ". If this was a 'lady boy' that's bad reporting. the way they word it, the person should have been a woman pretending to be a man. Maybe the soldier was gay, but discovered the dude as really a girl.
But if he was drunk and he woke up and some guy had done something unseemly with his butt, I can see how he could react that way.
