Amazon layoffs

More good news in what is hopefully a worldwide trend. Amazon will be firing 18000 useless sluts, with a preference toward HR harpies. Hopefully someone has plans to covert the prettier ones into sex slaves.

Is this so that baldy wanker Bezos can save and scrimp even more money? He is such a deplorable piece of shit.
That british way of talking is right on. What does wanker mean exactly? Is it similar to "idiot" or "dickhead" in American usage?

One day I want to go to the UK to hear the locals talk there.

Please....more in the UK / British way of vernacular. This is interesting....I've only met a few people from England in my life. In my mind, I've always thought British people have this sort of way of speaking how Sean Connery is in this interview:

Dude, most of us don't really speak like Sean Connery or how Americans perceive British people to speak based on what they've heard on TV. Most speak one of the many substandard regional varieties of English with a thick accent. Most people from where Pixel--Dude and I live speak like complete peasants!

If you're ever in the UK gimme a shout and we could meet. I'd be up for that.
Alright mate.

I've seen me some British movies. One of my favorite ones is Snatch.

A lot of Americans have kind of that generic midwestern accent that stretches from upstate New York out through California. There are some unique accents in the upper midwest. Some people from Chicago have some unique pronunciation of vowels. The south from northern Florida up through Virginia and out towards Texas have a variety of southern accents. Then there are 'Ebonics' type accents in the big cities. But a lot of American do speak with a kind of generic midwestern accent. Even some of the large cities and suburban areas in the south have a lot of people speaking with the generic accent you hear on TV. There are a lot of people from up north and other parts of the US moving south where the winters are milder. And some southerners have a fairly standard accent with a hint of southern on certain words. There still is plenty of regional variation.

I think of Sean Connery's accent as a mix of a Scottish accent and a standard British accent.

I can't usually tell what city an American is from by their accent, but I can sometimes tell the region. New York, New Orleans, and Chicago might be exceptions to that.

But once when I was in college, I was talking with this gay one of the areas that had a TV, and his accent reminded me of my aunt by marriage. It turns out she was his aunt by blood. I think it was his accent, or possibly his mannerisms that I picked up subconsciously. We had an aunt in common, though we weren't related.

"Wanker" literaly means "someone who jerks off a lot" but, by extension, it's used to mean "jerk" or "a**hole". Having lived in the UK for more than 15 years, I don't think there's anything fascinating about the "British way of talking", unless you mean the strict vernacular spoken up north and that became famous in books like Trainspotting.

That's not good news at all. At least half of those people would be top-notch software developers and IT engineeers who would easily colonise the upper echelon of lucrative jobs for other multinationals or large startups.

It's always a zero-sum game, mate.

I'd guess most of the layoffs are of worthless sluts, just like at Twitter.

Nah, it's a myth. Head of Inclusivity and other BS titles do exist, but how many of them? 2, 3 per company? Most of the layoffs will be technical operations: development, support, perhaps the odd R&D lab that didn't produce anything sellable, etc.

What's the deal with all those "Day in the life" TikTok videos then, or the fact that thousands of people can be fired with no apparent impact on production?

Most jobs, even at Amazon and Google, are worthless. People shuffling emails and "brainstorming" while doing very little that actually results in production of a useful product. Most white collar work is busy work and could be done much more effectively by a smaller number of focused people and elimination of unnecessary tasks and metrics. That's why 100 people at a startup seem to have more innovation and ability to produce something useful than the same company when it grows to 100,000 people. The ones that are worth anything can make something of themselves without Google or Amazon, while the others were probably redundant to begin with
