It doesn't have to be that way, though. I've only been here for two months, but a couple of posters said it used to be far better, intellectually speaking, than what is is now. I have no way of verifying that, but ill take their word for it.

I think internet culture as a whole is, in my opinion, a microcosm of larger social forces at work aimed to dumb down the typical person. I'm certainly not the first person by any means to entertain that idea, and this has been going on for decades, but with all this technology and social media, it's reaching epic proportions.

I, too, am finding myself more and more mad at the world as I've gotten older, as well, for reasons very similar to what you espouse. The amount of dumbed down, vapid individuals in today's society is alarming. Watching people staring into their magic boxes all the time without speaking to the person they're with just makes my blood boil in ways you can't imagine, brother.

Just don't let it consume you. It's easier said than done, but, what other choice do you have? Are you really just going to allow a plethora of morons ruin your days, weeks and years? There's nothing you can do about it. Never let em see ya sweat, as mom used to say. The reality is there are still alot of smart, considerate, down to earth people out there, you just gotta work hard and have a good radar for these things.

As soon as the dominant culture becomes stupid and insane — as is happening today in the age of social media — large swarms of midwits follow suit in an almost ape-like mimetic manner and society becomes collectively stupider and more insane.

Up until now the elites — and other intelligent people who aren't part of the elite class and have to interact with the public on a daily basis — have recognized the need to tolerate the masses of midwits and stupid people. Who else is going to farm the food that you eat, change your tire, or prepare your meal at a restaurant? However, this need is quickly coming to an end as AI and robots are set to replace the majority of human workers in the next two decades, which will cause the masses of midwits and stupid people to become completely obsolete from a production standpoint.

Furthermore, in addition to advanced AI and automation, unprecedented breakthroughs in genetics, nanotechnology and many other areas of science are expected to take place in the relatively near future, culminating in what Futurists call the "Singularity", which will completely revolutionize all facets of life and bring about a Transhumanist future. It will then be possible to enhance IQ significantly, artificially select for beneficial traits, improve health and physical capacities, extend the human lifespan, and perhaps even achieve biological immortality — basically, to become a superhuman race.

The elites are obviously going to pursue Transhumanism for themselves. At the same time, they'll probably attempt to regress everyone else to a condition resembling feudalism (I think that's what the WEF's "You shall own nuh-zing und be happy" agenda is all about).

However, I'm of the view that intelligent and forward-thinking people from among the non-elite class should also come together and form our own Transhumanist Movement and ultimately attempt to break away from both the current elites and the masses of midwits and stupid people who comprise the bulk of the population and are adverse to further human evolution. I advocate for the creation of a completely separate civilization and species of genetically enhanced super-intelligent individuals.

I know that some people on this forum have advocated for abandoning modern civilization and forming hyper-conservative religious communities like the Mennonites in order to preserve their genetic lineage, but that low-tech and regressive option becomes obsolete in a world wherein human intelligence can be significantly enhanced in a few generations through pre-implantation embryo selection and gene editing, reproduction is increasingly aided by technology, and extreme longevity becomes possible.

There is no doubt in my mind that society as a whole, and subsystems of society(such as the educational system, among others) INTENTIONALLY facilitate these dynamics for no other reason than to produce obedient worker bees throughout the course of one's life. If you really think about it, the main goal of society is just grow the machine bigger and to perpetuate itself indefinitely, with human labor as the main fuel for this. If you were to take any two points in history, the latter point almost always has 'more' machine than the former. We're trained to be smart enough to pull the right levers and push the right buttons, but not too smart to where we question any of it.

I used to let it bother me way more than it should, but I'm getting better at not letting it. It's just a matter of striking a balance. I like my deep conversations, but I'm not above dumb fun. Especially with women, keep it it light and playful, at least at first.

Was it really all intentional, though? From the outset, especially with platforms as social media, did they want to fu ck up society in the first place? Or was that just a by product? Even if it wasn't intentional, the end result is still the same. We can assume the inventors and developers of the automobile didn't INTEND for people to get in accidents and killed, but nevertheless many people each year die because of it. So even UNINTENDED consequences need to be taken into account.

My neighbour can't even have a conversation without shouting everything so the whole street knows his business. On top of that, he has a kid (should people that stoopid really be allowed to reproduce?) and whenever the kid fills the potty up, he opens his front door and launches a potty full of piss out into the street like we're living in the goddamn 1500s! I have to be honest here, ChatGPT provides much better conversation than most human beings.
