I mean... if society wasn't so f***ed up like now... if everyone was happy and free and the women werent bitches... why would we need independent thinkers? Why would we need rebels to find an unusual path? what would be the point?

There is no society where everyone is happy and accepts the system. Even when society was not anti-male, you still had rebels and disgruntled people who didn't like what they saw in the world. Materialist values always breed rebels who reject it because materialism takes you away from your true self and tries to get you to identify with false things. That's why some will always rebel against it.

I don't get it... america is all about rebelling...we were founded on rebellion. i learned in my American studies classes how violence and rebellion shaped America...we didn't take shit from authority cause we weren't about authority, we were about the little guy standing up to authority...

And then... in the 60s there was a lot of rebellion... first african americans, they fought for their rights and stood up to authority, got arrested...

And then... hippies and antiwar protestors rebeled against the system... gays and women too

my professor told us thats why everyone is more casual... lifestyle more free today... not stuffy and rigid like the 50s. Questioning authority is mainstream now cause of watergate...

But... none of that rebellion did much for me cause... it doesn't feel free for me.. i don't get it, WTF?. and everyone here says you can say and do things in other countries that aren't so called 'free'.... WTF?

It all depends on what you want and how you define freedom. If you live to work, then you will feel that in America, you are "free to work and pursue the best paying jobs" etc. If you don't like being a slave to work and money and raising a family, then you will find American life to be pointless, unless you live in rural areas with hippies.

yeah but.. its the same in all countries , I mean... you gotta work 9-5 everyday where ever you go... and foriengers have to raise families too.. so theyre slaves too, no?

So anyway... freedom for me is not feeling like a criminal just cause I'm attracted to women... or the government butting in everywhere i go, everything i do, everything i say...

isn't it ironic... America the rebel country, all about freedoms and rights... but still stifling in its own way...
