How to download YouTube videos in video or audio formats

YouTube Premium includes downloads. I think I'd rather pay for YouTube Premium than one of these other services.

I joined YouTube premium too. But the catch is that when you download the video, it's only available on the YouTube app, not offline in an MP3 audio file or MP4 video file. Same as when you buy a movie on Amazon. You can only watch the video on the Amazon app. You don't get the raw file for you to use offline.

I usually have data and wifi off to save battery. I also cannot stand the sound of the phone ringing. It gets on my nerves. So I prefer downloading in raw files and then converting them to small MP3 files so I can listen to them offline and not need a data connection. I bought an SD card with 512 GB on it so I can hold a ton of files.

There is one left that I found that can still download YouTube videos though, which I found on Yandex, not Google. So if you plan to download anything from YouTube, you'd better do it soon before they block this one too.

LOL sorry to disappoint, but me being a software developer doesn't imply I know all tools doing every possible thing on the Internet. I honestly never had to download a video from YT. I can re-watch them every time I am online.

The point is however that many videos on Youtube are not there for always, many expire, or are removed by Youtube related to copyright and such issues or are taken offline/private by the owner.

If you are able to save the video into your computer, you can keep and look at them for always, for example like concerts, travel reports, language lessons etc.

If you do not want to see any ads on youtube, you have to download first of all this video into your computer and all ads are gone, and you can look at the movie without being disturb by them as many times as you like even without being connected to the internet.

Of course Youtube does not want you to do that. Youtube tries more and more to block users to download movies from their servers.

Btw what I said is not always true. It seems that you can still download podcasts from YouTube easily at this link:

But short movies and documentaries don't download with that tool. So you have to try multiple tools. It also seems sporadic, like some parts of the day the download works and sometimes it doesn't. It's weird.

There's lots of different YouTube downloaders. My tip is to search for one then bookmark any that work.

Incidentally, they often don't work. I tend to find they work better in the mornings my time. Also leave them be... sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.

A really good thing I bought was a mini cube PC which I hook up to my TV. I put an ad blocker on it and now I can watch YouTube ad-free. It's awesome if you want to watch tutorials and longer stuff. The cube has no fan so it's silent too.

It's a bit more technical but you basically need to look for the download link (called "Stable release") then get something like
YoutubeDownloader.win-x64.zip. Just unzip it then run the .exe file. It's free and has no ads. Image quality is fantastic.

I gave up with the online download tools - only one now works for me and it won't download anything with copyrighted music.

Another good tool for downloading YouTube videos. But it only downloads them in 360p. However it keeps audio at good quality at 128 kbps. Audio in video files too, not just mp3 files.
