Asians negatively affected by affirmative action?

Post by Traveler »

"Asians need SAT scores 140 points higher than whites, 270 points higher than Hispanics, and an incredible 450 points higher than blacks (out of 1,600 points) to get into these schools. An Asian applicant with an SAT score of 1,500, that is, has the same chance of being accepted as a white student with a 1,360, a Latino with a 1,230, or an African-American with a 1,050. Among candidates in the highest (1,400–1,600) SAT range, 77 percent of blacks, 48 percent of Hispanics, 40 percent of whites, and only 30 percent of Asians are admitted....

" 'Asians are typecast in college admissions offices as quasi-robots programmed by their parents to ace math and science tests,' Golden observes. A Yale student commenting on the Princeton OCR complaint put it more bluntly: '[T]here can be good reasons for the disproportionately low acceptance rates for many Asians. . . . Top-tier schools . . . look not only for good grades but for an interesting student who will bring something of value to the community.' ....

"Another study by Espenshade found that racial preferences for blacks and Latinos at elite colleges come almost entirely at the expense of Asian-Americans rather than whites. He and a colleague determined that if affirmative action were eliminated, '[n]early four out of every five places . . . not taken by African-American and Hispanic students would be filled by Asians.' "

It sounds like Asians are being rejected from universities so that more blacks and Latinos can be enrolled. Diversity has become more important that academic achievement. Asians, however, are partially to blame since most of them vote Democrat.

Perhaps so, but you won't be getting any sympathy from whitey. The Chinaman and White Man had a common interest, but the Chinaman was not wise enough to see it and so he sided with the other ethnic minority groups and now is forced to realize that cultural Marxism works against him, perhaps even more so than the White Man.

We reap what we sow.

This is a typical US-problem of racist BS and no idea how to solve it. However I think, to lower the standard based solely on race is plainly wrong.

About Asians, they should better look out for their studies in other countries where such a race-related system does not exist. They can do that in Asia and also in Europe, likely even with study fees much cheaper than in USA.

The question for me as non-US citizen is also about who is an 'Asian' and who is not. Somebody originally from Iran or India? They are not Asians, but white. What about a Russian who is from Siberia and Asian by race? I heard that Latino often consider themselves as 'white'. Which criteria decides your 'race' and what about 'mixed race' people?

Really? You could say that for 'liberal' Asians, but what about Asians like the Koreans in Koreatown blowing away looting Blacks and Latinos during the L.A. riots, or Asians that are conservatives such as Michelle Malkin, Dinesh D'souza and Darell Hamamoto ?

But I get what you're saying about Asians becoming increasingly liberals, or joining the Democratic Party. They're hopeless and complete morons, but what do I care? I'm an Asian that will never again live permanently in the sh*thole known as the U.S. of A.

This is why I focus on the money, if you have any complaints with the system you file them with the CITI!

Now they are trying to ban cash and want it world wide obviously. As I stated before, you are looking at socialism headed up by the Credit Monopoly which is the 5th plank of the communal dictatorship. When I told you all that socialism IE communism is for Idiots I was not kidding and meant it quite literally.

Working hard today on your own merit will get you no where trying to achieve your end goals, you must suck the socialist bankers " you know  " in unison with their end goals and not your own.
