Americans generally find foreign culture and language fascinating and you will likely be bombarded with questions about your home. Questions such as these are nearly always meant in a friendly and inquisitive manner.
For me that usually translates to "So, what kind of Asian are you?"

My wife gets all sorts of questions.

"So, you're from China? Wow, have you ever seen a Ninja? How about a Samurai?" *Facepalms when they aren't looking.*
