...Americans would rather attend your funeral than listen to your story. In most other countries, it's the other way around.

It's not really only about USA, but about many countries, especially Western countries, where men are often considered as 2nd class citizens.

Many people are wrongly informed, because the media will always present you any dramatic long and tearful story about a female celebrity, bullied schoolgirl, desperate housewife etc. who tries to commit suicide - but such suicide attempts often fail, because women try to die slowly, swallowing a lot of drugs and are often rescued.

Most people however who commit suicide successfully are men as they choose a harsh way to die without any chance of return, like hanging or using a gun...

In general it can be said about people who committed SUCCESSFULLY suicide, 3/4 are men and 1/4 are women.

However this is rather a subject which is widely ignored. Nobody cares about dead men, but only about women who are rescued after they try but failed to commit suicide.

It is actually pretty widely known. Men and women attempt suicide at nearly equal rates, but men tend to use more lethal means because women are cowards about it
