Hillary versus Trump

Ronald Reagan was supported by The Moral Majority. Whether or not you agree with their morals, I think they deserve credit for making morality an issue. Today morality is no longer an issue. The Left treats its politically correct views like a fundamentalist religion and never even asks why it supports the things it does. The Right is a mix of economic positions, nationalism, and racism. Morality isn't part of this mix. The modern Left and Right are equally worthless.
I am sure that the presidential election will be Hillary versus Trump. I know this because these are the worst candidates from each party, and I have full confidence that Americans will always pick the worst candidate. So then the question is who would I pick between these two if I had to choose. I would pick Hillary.
Trump is a demagogue who is quite likely to start WW3. Trump is arrogant and never backs down. So what do you think will happen when America does something stupid that provokes a conflict with Russia? Putin is much more intelligent than Trump or Hillary, and Putin has the common sense not to be unnecessarily provocative. But Putin also knows, very rightly, that he cannot afford to back down to America when America is clearly in the wrong, because if he does then America will just become bolder and more obnoxious and will accelerate its attacks on Russia. Putin is right in thinking that he must stand up to America and hope that America has the sense to back down. But of all the candidates, Trump has the least of this kind of sense. If Trump doesn't back down, WW3 will follow.
To make this concrete, consider the recent shooting down of the Russian jet by Turkey. This was a completely idiotic attack on Russia by the West. Putin took decisive action to show that he would not tolerate this kind of thing. Obama had the common sense to back down, and he sent Kerry to Russia to defuse the situation. What would Trump have done?
I see Hillary as basically another Obama. She is completely corrupt, but not as arrogant as Trump. In a confrontation with Putin, she will back down. Hillary may destroy America but, unlike Trump, she won't destroy the world. So I prefer Hillary.
I want to give an example of what I mean by moralizing in politics. I generally don't think any divorced candidate is qualified to be president. Today this view would be considered antiquated by the entire political spectrum, but this was a common view in American history. My reasoning is simple. If a candidate couldn't manage their own marriage, how can they be expected to manage the country? The main cause of divorce is selfishness which isn't a good trait for a president to have. But if the candidate's spouse was truly intolerable, then this shows that the candidate is a poor judge of character, not good for a president either.
In all of American history, the only president who was divorced is Ronald Reagan. His first wife was unreasonable and she divorced him. I like Reagan, but I have to admit that he wasn't the smartest guy, so this divorce was the result of poor judgement on his part.
Now let's look at Trump. Trump divorced twice, each time because he wanted to move on to a hotter woman. This is morally disgusting beyond words. Yet this issue is never raised. This shows the extent to which the Right no longer cares about morality. And it shows just how far America has decayed.
Hillary, to her credit, has never been divorced. She may be completely corrupt in politics, but at least she had the decency not to divorce. Another reason why I prefer Hillary.
