It is said that when you subsidize something you get more of it. If you pay money to those who are homeless you are going to find more and more homeless people coming to your city. It holds on a national level, too. Increasing social services for the poor results in more poor willing to take the risk of crossing the border in order to enjoy those services. Then, because the number of poor and homeless are increasing, more needs to be done to help them. More will be done, especially if they are allowed to vote. What incredible job security this all is for the politician who will promise freebies. It is no mystery at all why such politicians are abundant.

The biggest myth out there is that the politicians that are "for the poor" actually want to solve poverty. There is a HUGE amount of money to be made working in the homeless/poverty industry thru mostly bullshit jobs, grants, and non-profits. As people start becoming self-sufficient and PAYING TAXES they're also much less likely to vote liberal. People like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and all the other morons are in it for their interests alone, not the interests of the people they claim to be advocating for.
