I was watching a clip of a reality show where a newly married couple were disagreeing about having cats in the bed. The woman wants the man to sleep with cats in the bed, and he's allergic. He's holding his ground in a too-reasonable manner. She's not budging.

If it were me, I'd just put my foot down on something like that. No way I'd sleep with cats, allergies or not.

This is just one of a million possible conflicts. I usually try to give my wife what she wants, and if she's got a good reason to want to do or buy something, I'll hear her out. But you don't have that final word on the subject as a man to put your foot down and say 'no', it's totally unnatural and life must be awful.

I would advise any man considering to get married to make it clear that he expects that the wife will submit to him. He gets the final word. She should go into marriage acknowledging this.
