Thailand has gone to shit - girls are super flaky and difficult
Thailand has gone to shit - girls are super flaky and difficult
So i've been in thailand for about 6 weeks now and the girls here are very flaky and difficult. When did this place become so shit? You'd think it would be easier with way less tourists, but nope.
Firstly, don't even think about inviting one straight over to your apartment. They will refuse EVERY TIME! This isn't the Philippines. Most won't even come back to your place after meeting them outside at a cafe first, because its "too soon". So many girls bio's on tinder have "NO ONS/FWB!". Even any hint of sex and they quickly get defensive!
The flakiness of the girls is another level. I think this is due to 2 reasons: 1. They work a lot and are busy, and 2. They have many options with foreigners here. Seriously, they are almost as bad as Colombian girls! I've arranged dates and some didn't even show up and will just ghost! Thai girls love to ghost, even after a first date! I've met up with girls and everything went really well, then they just ghosted me after the date! wtf?
I have also come across lots of bitchy thai women on tinder that are very rude and insulting when you hint anything about sex. I never got this in the Philippines, ever! Filipinas are just too polite.
To me Thialand literally feels like the west. Even when I go out it feels i'm invisible. They are so used to all the foreigners here that they don't give a shit. In the philippines I feel like i'm a rockstar. When I go out I often get girls flirting with me, calling me handsome etc. Here they don't even look at you, cause you're just another foreigner among many.
All the conversations are boring and lame.
"Why you come to thailand?"
"How long have you been in thailand?"
"How long will you stay in thailand?"
"Have you ever had a thai gf?"
repeat hundreds of times over and over to the point where it burns you out. I've given up and don't even try anymore. Now I see why so many guys here just prefer p2p.
Not only are they boring as hell, most of them can't speak english. Imagine trying to have a boring conversation WITH poor communication! It's absolute hell.
f**k Thailand, it's almost as bad as the west now. I''m heading to the Philippines and will never return.

Where are you in Thailand? In which area? Of course without foreign men around willing to pay for these many bargirls, they had to leave and went back to their rural areas. Not only are they boring as hell, most of them can't speak english. Imagine trying to have a boring conversation WITH poor communication!
But don't blame them that they cannot speak English - the national language is Thai and how can you expect such girls to have a higher education and language skills.
What about you to try to communicate a little bit in foreign languages?
For what do you need Tinder while in Thailand, just look around...

Bangkok. Sure mate, i'll just learn to speak Thai overnight then all is good! It's such an easy language after all!Yohan wrote: ↑March 6th, 2022, 3:16 amWhere are you in Thailand? In which area? In many countries in Asia local languages are quite difficult to learn for native English speakers.
They are totally different from English or French....in both, spoken and written form - regardless if this is Thai, Khmer, Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean, Japanese....
You cannot expect that ordinary people living there - often without higher education - will respond to you in good English or maybe French.

Re: Thailand has gone to shit - girls are super flaky and difficult
Thai girls always did remind me of American girls in the way they somehow manage to be both slutty AND difficult to land a date with at the same time. Both put near-zero effort into the dating process, especially online, with one-word replies that can't completely be attributed to the language barrier. (other Asian girls put in more effort than this!) I shouldn't dis them too much, though, since one of the best gfs I ever had was Thai.

This is an old thread from 2013, but for sure it is now worse than 9 years ago.OzGuy wrote: ↑March 6th, 2022, 8:29 amhttps://www.livingthai.org/are-thai-gir ... tPWPC2aPG0
Seems i’m not the only one.
And sure, you are not the only one. Many Thai women are simply said irresponsible, just doing what they like and moving on from one man to the other.
Thai girl horror stories are not only coming from foreigners but from local Thai men too.
Thailand is fine for vacation and retirement, I have my second home in Thailand - but you have to be very careful with Thai women - either it's a good young woman - educated and out of a financial well family - you will be very lucky if she and her parents will accept you and I doubt if you fulfill their expectations and requirements easily - or if the girl is available from a poor background she doesn't care about anything, just doing whatever she likes and considers you as an ATM or otherwise a disposable item.
I know a few foreign men who married a Thai woman and there are no complaints - but I know also many more foreign men whose relationship was nothing but a waste of time and money. I know not only personally white farangs who were cheated, but also Japanese and Malaysian-Chinese who had similar bad experience.
----
But excuse me, some farang men are also idiots. One guy, in the same large condominium building where I have my rooms, had a Thai girlfriend and it turned out she was crazy, violent, a drug abuser and he had to remove her from his rooms with the help of the police.
After a short while she came back, kissing his feet, telling him tearfully she is sooooooooo sorry, loooooove you, forgive me, you can do everything with me you want etc.... and this idiot MARRIED her and guess what, after a few months he was divorced... he told me later on 'I made a mistake'....
LOL - You cannot help such men....

Re: Thailand has gone to shit - girls are super flaky and difficult
Why men are preferring Thailand to the Philippines, it really escapes me. Filipina girls beat Thai 100 to 1. The only reason one would want to be in Thailand is for the vastly superior food culture, tastier and healthier, which is why, in general, young Thai girls are thinner than Filipinas.
Re: Thailand has gone to shit - girls are super flaky and difficult
Maybe it has to do with superior aspects of Roman Catholic culture to Buddhist. The Malay cultures also seem to be kind of laid back, friendly, hospitable, and accommodating for the most part. Filipino pronunciation in English would also probably be easier to decipher than Thai. I've never been to the Philippines, but I've spent plenty of time with Filipinos, and I've been to Thailand for a few days. My understanding is that Tagalog would also be a lot easier to learn than Thai. Through Spain and the US, Filipinos have been familiarized with western culture. And I also get the impression that since white foreigners ruled the Philippines for century, just like in Indonesia, that among some social classes a white man may also get some 'points' on social class just for being white. In the 1990's, many Indonesians attached some status to marrying foreigners from other, more developed, Asian cultures also.publicduende wrote: ↑March 7th, 2022, 4:15 amWhy men are preferring Thailand to the Philippines, it really escapes me. Bangkok used to have worse traffic than Jakarta, I heard. The Thais installed subways and trains. I got a chance to ride on the subway on my trip there when it was still relatively new to check it out.OzGuy wrote: ↑March 6th, 2022, 8:29 amhttps://www.livingthai.org/are-thai-gir ... tPWPC2aPG0
Seems i’m not the only one.
They said the air pollution was worse in Thailand. I was there during a school break and I could not say it was worse than Jakarta at the time. It was just different. Bangkok smelled like concrete dust. Jakarta smelled like diesel smoke.
If the traffic is still anything at all like Jakarta, and the girl in the blog story thought she had a ride, but wasn't in control of the car, she might not have been trying to flake out. Is there a social norm that her sister had to have someone accompany her? She could have got stuck taking care of her younger sister-- which she would have to prioritize over a date. Still, not telling the man the details (if she could communicate them in English) would have been flaky. On crazy Asian streets, a total traffic jam of a street could lead a driver to take a long detour. In Jakarta, a trip could take 15 minutes or 3 hours depending on traffic conditions. It is hard to plan. You have to leave early enough for work and have that route planned out. But the rest of the city could be a mystery. Maybe the map and UBER type apps help with predicting that. I'm not sure how that technology has progressed.
Sure, she sounds like she flaked on him and showed some disrespect by an extreme disregard for his time, but these series-of-uncontrollable-events type situations can happen with the traffic in some of these cities.
When I met my wife in Jakarta, we then started talking on the phone. Then we wanted to meet in person. She did not offer to meet and then stand me up. Neither of us had a car. It probably took us a couple of weeks before we could meet. That was mainly her busy schedule, but we might have met earlier in a city with typical US traffic.
I don't remember, but I might have gotten 'stood up' for one of 90 or so dates before we got engaged. I took her to dinner just about every night, and lunch and dinner on the weekends. The rupiah was cheap after the currency crisis, and buffets and some of the reasonably nice dinners at the restaurant-filled mall where we ate were about $2.
I do remember I was going to pick her up at her boarding house, our daily routine, and she was really late. I pranked her by leaving a note on her door that I had showed up and she wasn't there, so I'd see her the next day. I was hiding on the balcony. I heard her come in. She read the note. I came out from behind the balcony, and she was crying because she thought she was not going to see me that day. I already knew she liked me, but that certainly confirmed it.
Re: Thailand has gone to shit - girls are super flaky and difficult
I would say it depends on your situation, what is your intention. Philippines and Thailand, both have advantages and both have their problems.publicduende wrote: ↑March 7th, 2022, 4:15 amWhy men are preferring Thailand to the Philippines, it really escapes me. About my impression, before these nasty Covid-19 restrictions:
I can only comment about Cebu and Leyte, which I really know out of many visits to my Filipina fosterdaughter.
If you are looking for a long term relationship/marriage with a female, for sure it is easier und nicer in the Philippines.
Many ordinary women are really very modest in their expectations, can communicate in fairly acceptable English, are often very willing to relocate to another country and if treated good, rarely looking for divorce.
Some foreigners complain about food quality, but I did not find it that bad, except for bread.
-----
However if you are not into looking for a long-term girlfriend and wife, and you are just into vacation and retirement, you are better off in Thailand, much better quality of life in general, condominiums for foreigners are clearly cheaper than in Philippines and offer wider rooms, safety is much better, you can go out day and night, by feet, by motorcycle and travel through all Thailand without facing criminality like in Philippines. You also notice quickly if you know both countries, the absence of aggressive beggars and street children. Streets are much cleaner, department stores offer a better selection of goods etc.
Beaches in Thailand are public, but in Philippines you often have to pay if you want to use them, also many times brownout and blackout, no electricity and no clean water supply. Trips between islands can be time consuming in Philippines while in Thailand you can drive by yourself over very long distances and visit many area by yourself.
Also health care among locals in Thailand is better, as everybody who is a Thai has a basic health insurance in the home province where the address is registered. Also many more airplanes and easy to move over to other countries, sometimes also by land route.
My two condo-units are in Thailand and I never considered to change over to Philippines.

Re: Thailand has gone to shit - girls are super flaky and difficult
LOL, is this 1st post actually serious, or supposed to be a prank or satire here?
He complains that some Thai girls aren't up for hooking up with sexpats, they're not ecstatic and treating him like a "rockstar" just because he's a foreigner, then complains that Thai girls that would date him don't have advanced English skills and can only say basic sentences in English, LOL?
I wonder how much Thai most entitled high-maintenance farangs can speak for those deep conversations?
Foreigners should be more polite and respectful when travelling to other peoples' countries, even if we can't help ourselves trying to score with their chicks there.

I come from the opposite perspective as you, having never been in Thailand (strange, but true) and having lived in the Philippines for longer.Yohan wrote: ↑March 7th, 2022, 9:26 amI would say it depends on your situation, what is your intention. Some friends who own property in Thailand and the Philippines told me homes and condos in Thailand are on average of better quality (construction, amenities, services, etc.) than those in the Philippines, but also quite a bit more expensive. As far as I was told, the luxury segment that is well-established in Bangkok city centre and business districts, is under construction in equivalent areas of Metro Manila (Makati, BGC, Ortigas etc.), with few examples already nearing completion. It's condo units worth 1 or 2 million dollars we're talking about, though...the likes of me (and perhaps you!) will never be able to set foot in any of them.
Food wise, there is no competition. No point even beginning to debate. I blame the Filipinos for absorbing the worst of the Spaniard and American food culture, over the years. It's not that the Philippines doesn't have a decent culinary traditions, with regional recipes dating back hundreds of years. I think what happened is, whatever was brought by the colonizers, Span and US but also China and Japan when it comes to food, was automatically considered superior, classier, and adopted wholeheartedly by the more worldly upper class. As the country progressively became richer, more and more of the emerging middle class started to emulate the upper class eating habits, gorging on high-fat and processed food.
Filipinos also got the unpleasant "merienda" habit from the Spaniard. They have the notion of eating several times a day in their DNA. They have afternoon and late night snacks every day, and it's usually a full-flavoured dish, like rice and fried chicken or spaghetti with sweet tomato sauce from a the fast food nearby.
The vastly inferior food culture is a double-whammy, as it's a negative per se for those who want to enjoy Filipino traditional food, and means that many girls will never be as slender and pretty as they would have been had they embraced a healthier cuisine.
About crime, I am not sure I agree with you. I have never been to Thailand but, as far as I can see, both urban and rural Philippines are low-crime areas. Metro Manila has its share of slums and dodgy areas which foreigners will be wise to avoid (or visit with a local chaperone who knows the safe streets from the unsafe ones). Apart from those, I have never felt threatened or even uncomfortable wherever I went, be it the deep Mindanao province or a glitzy business district. There are occasional incidents involving organised crime gangs kidnapping and even killing rival members, or family thereof, in broad daylight. But these occurrences are rare and very, very rarely involve foreigners.
What is quite odious in this country is, on a different scale, the scamming culture. I guess that's another crime scene a foreigner, indeed anybody, should steer clear of. Filipinos, even the educated ones, are known for their very poor financial literacy and for subscribing to the "get rich quick" mentality typical of 80s America. For them it's normal to believe that a $1,000 investment may well double, without any risk, in 3 or 6 months. In the best case scenario, it's a Ponzi scheme and, if they're lucky to be first in the pipelines, they will maybe get 25% of what promised. In the worst case, it's a proper scam and they will lose everything. On this side, I have seen it all. This topic deserves a separate thread, but you get the idea.
About healthcare: private healthcare backed by insurance is also pretty good here. Premia can be quite high, though. About the state of public health, I think it's unfair to make comparisons with private clinics charging 10, 20 times more. I heard that Thailand has several world class clinics perfect for medical tourism. There is a little bit of that here in the Philippines, too, but nowhere near the scale of Thailand's.
Re: Thailand has gone to shit - girls are super flaky and difficult
The point is in Thailand EVERYBODY who is Thai citizen has a health insurance, and this is not the case in Philippines.publicduende wrote: ↑March 7th, 2022, 7:32 pmAbout healthcare: private healthcare backed by insurance is also pretty good here. Poor people have no cover and the only way for them is to pay cash or die early.
Food: I cannot complain about it in Cebu and Leyte, also my own daughter who visited my Filipina fosterdaughter several times already in Cebu had no complaints with the exception of bread - people operating a bakery in Philippines have no knowledge what bread really should look like. But otherwise....
Real estate: I compared both, Cebu and Pattaya, much better and cheaper in Pattaya.
What? 1 or 2 million USD? That's crazy and risky - You never know what happen to such countries, no need to invest such a huge amount.
You need only a political problem or something like Covid-19 as a foreigner and you cannot even access your own property.
In Pattaya you can buy a very nice condo-unit, (if you are really willing to spend so much money like USD 100.000 to 150.000,-) about 55 to 80 m2 with good furniture, highter floor and building has a huge private swimming pool and not far to city and beach and ready to move in next day.
But you can find smaller and cheaper ones too of course. Some of them very nice and not more than USD 25.000,- or so (around THB 800.000,-)...ready to move in, land title within 2 days in your own name.
In Pattaya, a 1 million USD is a de-luxe condo with 350 m2, and a 2 million USD property in Pattaya is rare, (this is about 65 million baht) but I found one with 711 m2 checking out some real estate brokers.
Safety: Much better in Pattaya compared to Cebu, also by far less beggars, hardly seen any street children. No guardman checking your bag when entering a department store etc.
Cleanliness, utility supply: Better in Pattaya than in Cebu where garbage is everywhere, hardly a brownout or blackout, hardly any water supply issues, no need to dig your own well... Check out a restroom in Cebu and compare it with a restroom somewhere in Thailand. Thailand is cleaner in every aspect compared to Philippines. Living standard is higher. Not so much poverty around, not so many jobless people.
Public transport: much better in Pattaya compared to Cebu, you don't wait for a jeepney longer than a few minutes.
Beach free, no need to pay for it.
Visiting Philippines for short time for me, it's OK, as I know personally some people living there since decades. But to stay there for retirement, or long stay vacation, buying my own rooms, no way.
There are also other issues, like unstable weather with heavy storms and horrible rain, earthquakes...
-----
Maybe in my case, this thread would be better if called 'Pattaya vs. Cebu' as I know both areas very well.
It's not really about girls and not really about all regions in both countries.
