Americaninbangkok is right about this Winston. Bagging on the royalty is serious trouble. They have a "cyber crimes" division in Bangkok which is basically a bunch of government stiffs sitting in an office searching for people who disparage them online. They have been known to log ip addresses, request isp info, and do reverse lookups to find out who is making those posts and them putting them on immigration blacklists. Then you get arrested if you ever enter the country.

Thais are not rational or reasonable at all when it comes to this, it's cultural fanaticism but nothing will happen if you just leave that topic alone. Don't try to test the boundaries of "free speech" or debate in Thailand, Winston. You will get burned hard.

I still think that even if Banano's comment were left on here, and I entered Thailand, most likely they would just tell me about it and ask me to remove it.

People usually ask nicely first before they get mean, as in AmericaninBangkok's case. They don't jump the gun.

Are AmericaninBangkok's name and photo public? Do they know who he is from his website?

Banano does seem like a reckless poster though. You guys should keep a watch on him.

We're not paranoid, you and Winston are absolutely clueless, seriously. You're oblivious to the truth. Read the Wikipedia or look up Lese Majeste...Like I said, I worked here as a journalist...believe it or not, I'm not full of shit. Your ideals of what is right and wrong don't mean shit to the Thai government.

I can confirm that AiB is absolutely not full of shit regarding this topic. It is dangerous territory that can get you in serious shit. Especially if you ever go to Thailand. They do things like submitting legal affidivats from U.S. lawyers to request info from isps to put you on blacklists.

If you do want to make statements about topics like that at least make sure you are completely anonymous somewhere.

Yes this topic scares me and Banano was foolish to bring it up, and even more foolish to not see what was wrong with what he originally posted. I left China partly because I got scared of some traitors using their influence to threaten me. I don't want to have to leave Thailand as well.

Do you seriously know how scary it is to live in a foreign country and wait for a knock on the door? I bet you have no idea. This is SERIOUS shit.

I've been on a Thai bus pulled over on the freeway to let VIP's speed through at 100mph. Sukhumvit is regularly shut down to let VIP's speed through. We ordinary folk need to know our place.

The whole of Asia depends on who you know, and who you pay off. The street sellers on Sukhumvit openly sell guns, knives, porn, viagra and it's all illegal. The same went on back in China. But if a farang gets caught with any of that and they're gonna go to jail or pay a big fine.

So let's end any mention of this here. You're free to discuss such matters on other forums, but I'm leaving here permanently if I ever see this topic appear again.

As to dating, well things are looking up. I have several good prospects, it's just a case of trying to catch them when they're not working. Which isn't easy here.
