Let's pretend that the spanish stayed in the Philippines for longer, and that they became independent a few decades ago. What would the Philippines be like now?

The Spanish left South America a long time ago too (similar to the Philippines). You could ask the same question about Latin/South America actually.

Philippines would be like Spain...Expensive

1. Philippines taxes would reach 50%

2. VAT 20%

3. High Medical Cost

4. Very high premium on your insurance

5. All bars close by 12 AM

6. The oligarchy would open the doors to migrants to destroy the country

ohh yeah..Bitchy women...No love for men

I guess it depends upon the US and Japan honoring Spanish or an independent Philippines neutrality during WWII. The English language skills and the call center industry along with go to OFWs as a middle class entry would be gone
