What were they thinking using the picture of such a sub par girl as the one to try to lure guys to join and pay?

I thought the old one in the black dress was bad, but this new one in the orange dress is worse:

She's really quite unattractive IMO, even ladyboyish.

I know other members have posted about the quality of girls on FC etc is going downhill fast and I agree. The girls seem to get worse every year I go back there, and now it seems even the best dating websites cover girl is getting worse.

I see what you mean but I think in this case it's just an unfortunately unflattering photo. It happens. The position of her teeth in the exact moment that the photo was taken makes her lips look crooked, but look closely and you'll see that there's nothing wrong with her lips or teeth. Also perhaps she's not very photogenic. I'm sure she's better looking in real life, or with less make up, or with black hair (brown hair can be unflattering on asian girls sometimes). It could be a combination of all those things.

You got me curious, but I think you have to hit enter on some of the sites to see the picture. I don't know why you put Hong Kong or even China on the list. IMO, the girl from Hong Kong had a really pretty face.

So, how do these sites make money? I think I saw a documentary that accused a something-or-other cupid site of taking pictures of models and having other people write profiles. If you email someone on the site, could you be talking to a man?

Do you know anyone who has actually gotten married through a relationship from one of these sites? The way I did it, was I actually went to live overseas. I didn't do that just to go find a foreign wife, but I did meet my wife while living in Indonesia. The logistics of a relationship would have to be difficult if you don't actually meet face to face. I did mention online dating to an attractive 40-year-old who asked my wife how to find a man. (I guess a lot of girls wanting a white man would single her out for that question.) I mentioned Internet cafes and online dating. About a year later, she came to another party at our house and announced she was engaged. She'd met a man online and 'dated' him through a web cam. A couple of her other friends married foreigners that way. So I guess its possible.

I wouldn't call those girls on the site homepages ugly - more on the average side. My opinion, of course.

Living over in Asia while searching for a woman is definitely the better option than relying on dating sites but for most of us, this isn't practical at the time.

Memberships to these sites can be free (Date in Asia) or there's a fee to pay. Choosing between one month, three month or a yearly membership are normally the options available and the cost for a month is around 40 USD (if my estimated conversion rate is correct). The longer your membership lasts, the cheaper it becomes over the long run.

As soon as you join and upload your photo's you should receive the obligatory 200+ emails from possible suitors showing their interest in you within the upcoming days. When you finish trawling through everyone, you'll most likely go from a boner to a moaner, because practically all the women are either ugly, average, or are obvious scammers.

I've used the Asian sites about half-a-dozen times over a seven year period for a month in each instance, so you're talking well over 1000 women have made first contact. From those, only the solitary ONE would I have described as "promising". The women who I have searched for myself obviously do not enter into this category.

This solitary one is actually the women I've been talking to for the past nine months. 36 years of age, ten years younger than myself, slim, looks 28-30, unmarried, no kids, over 5 ft, works in a bank, spitting image of Julia Roberts when she was in Pretty Woman, albeit without the long snout as she has the typical flat Filipino nose. Whether it will work out, I don't know. Only time will tell.

The one's you contact first obviously pass the initial attraction "screening" of a few seconds but then you read their profile and you soon realise that they're not suitable. It can make you disillusioned when it happens frequently but you need to be patient on dating sites, but like I said earlier, living over there or at least hanging out for a number of months would be the better option IMO.
