No more Little Brown Fvcking Machines for American farangs!

This has been in the news for two weeks, but has quieted down recently. This is not the first time Duterte has been threatening to do it. But it has not happened yet. The only thing that has happened was three US senators were banned by the PH immigration as persona non grata. But were they planning to go to the PH to begin with?

President Duterte seems to have a grudge against the US because he was once denied a US visa. Since then he's been talking about equal treatment and asking Americans to also get visas.

It is conveniently ignored that Canada, EU, Nz, Aus and a host of other countries also ask Filipinos to get visas while they can come to the PH any time they wish. There is no talk about getting those to get visas. Well, it will bring tourism to a trickle if it happens.

This will hurt arrival numbers and create additional hassles mostly affecting US citizens of Filipino heritage. But even if it came to be, all it means is that one will have to send an application to the Embassy, just like one does with Myanmar. Which many will just not choose to do and head to Thailand, instead.

So, while it might happen, chances are it may not.

The storm blew over, and the whole thing was just dropped.
