Why does Hollywood portray women as the stronger sex? WTF?

Post by Winston »

Have you noticed that most movies and TV shows made after 1995 tend to portray women as the stronger sex and men as the weaker sex? Why is that? It wasn't like that before.

In modern movies, when a man and woman engage in physical combat, the woman ends up kicking butt most of the time. And every time they argue, the man has to be shamed and realize that he was wrong. In action movies where there's a group of people fighting for survival, the women always take charge.

Examples: In the recent V series remake, both the Resistance and Visitors have a woman in charge. In the Resident Evil movie series, the main female hero and protagonist, Alice, is not only the strongest and most invincible character who wins every fight, but when she finds other survivors of the zombie holocaust, she always takes charge and leads them. Even when she meets other groups of survivors (such as in Resident Evil 3: Extinction) the groups are also led by other "strong females".

And on sitcoms such as "Home Improvement" and "King of Queens", whenever the husband argues with the wife, he ends up being shamed, admitting that he was wrong and apologizing. Even on radio shows like Radio Delilah and talk shows like Dr. Phil, psychologists and relationship counselors are often brought in to say, "The key to a successful relationship is for the man to learn to listen to his wife."

However, all this contradicts reality and common sense. In real life, men tend to be physically stronger than women, and would therefore win in a real fight. And in arguments, women are often proven wrong and shamed, not just men. (I know I've gotten the last word in many arguments with feminist-minded women for example, which pissed them off big time because they felt entitled to get the last word)

Most women also do not do well in leadership roles, as leadership requires the use of reason, rationality and logic. But women are not usually strong in these areas. Women by nature are nurturers. They tend to be conformists with no inner convictions. And they care more about how they are perceived than in doing what's right. (There are exceptions of course, but we are talking about most women here, not all) None of these qualities are good for leadership.

Just look at the wisest figures and great thinkers in history, people who were renowned for their wisdom, philosophy, and great ideas. The vast majority of them were men, not women. Thus, reality stands in stark contrast for how Hollywood and the media portrays things.

So why does Hollywood and the modern media like to portray the opposite of reality? Why do they like to flip the natural gender roles - making women dominant/stronger while men submissive/weaker? Why do they want to make women more masculine and men more feminine? What does that accomplish exactly? I don't get it. It doesn't make sense.

Are they trying to socially program people or brainwash them? If so, for what purpose? I can only imagine that the purpose must be something nefarious, because the effect on society, relationships, family, love and dating have been highly negative and dysfunctional.

Perhaps the conspiracy people are right when they say that the elite (Illuminati/Zionists/Powers that be) are trying to divide us with feminism and the "battle of the sexes" in order to make us weaker, destroy the family unit and lower the birthrate to have a more manageable population? What else could explain this illogical social engineering?

Consider the unnatural dysfunctional effect that turning men into women and women into men has had on relationships and dating for both genders:

1) Women by nature need a man who can be her protector. In order for him to protect her, he's obviously got to be stronger than her. Duh. If he is the weaker and more submissive sex, as Hollywood wants men to be, then how can he be her protector? Duh! This can only result in women becoming confused and dissatisfied that the men around her are too feminized and weak to be her "protector". As a consequence, she will have a hard time finding a guy or becoming attracted to one, since her own nature has been flipped upside down.

What's more, she won't understand why either. Instead, she will be left confused, disappointed and messed up due to her true feminine nature being stripped and suppressed.

All this, in addition to the off-chart entitlement mentality and pickiness of American women, make dating in America hell on Earth for men who are not in the top 20 percent.

2) On the other hand, men by nature seek a woman who is feminine (not masculine, you stupid media) and can be a "princess to rescue". But how can a woman be a "princess to rescue" if she is the dominant/stronger one while he is the weaker/submissive one? Duh. Are the elites that run Hollywood and the media stupid, insane or evil? WTF?

Now, I'm not trying to stereotype or put people into boxes, but trying to turn men into women and women into men obviously CANNOT be a good thing. There's no question about that.

By turning both men and women against their inherent nature, the modern feminist culture in the US has left both men and women feeling confused, lonely and dissatisfied. All this has resulted in the degradation of love, dating, relationships and families, as well as the gender identities of men and women, all of which is highly negative. WTF is going on?

This is a very good observation Winston. I feel that Hollywood is portraying men as weak and incompetent. The best example of this would one of the most popular shows in the past 20 years, Married with Children. The husband, Al Bundy, is a bumbling loser who sells women's shoes for a living and drove a beat up car. From what I can remember, his neighbor Marcy Darcy was a successful banker. Many episodes had Al and Marcy trading verbal shots at each other. The well off woman and the loser guy.

The message that I see is that women were being taught that not only could they compete with men in the work force but that they were no longer doormats for men. Thanks to feminism and affirmative action, women are now able to make as much as men.

Also, it is unnatural for a woman to lead a man in a relationship. How many successful relationships can you think of where the woman "wears the pants"? The role of the man is to protect and provide for his family. Women need to sit back and allow the husband to be the man.

Why this? Why that? Because those that put out the "entertainment" and those that consume it are, in the main, harpies and manginas.
That's "why". From the cradle and cartoon age, they are indoctrinated.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peanuts (Charlie Brown, Snoopy, etc.)
Peanuts did not shy away from cartoon violence. The most obvious example might be Charlie Brown's annual, futile effort to kick the football while Lucy holds it. At the last moment, she would pull the ball away just as he was kicking. The off-balance Charlie Brown would sail into the air and land on his back with a loud thud. There was also the ever-present (and often executed) threat by Lucy to "slug" someone, especially her brother Linus. Though violence would happen from time to time, only once or twice was a boy ever depicted hitting a girl (Charlie Brown, who accidentally hit Lucy; when Lucy complained about it, Charlie Brown went down to her psychiatric booth where she returned the slug much harder) August 8, 1965. Schulz once said, "There is nothing funny about a little boy being mean to a little girl. That is simply not funny! But there is something funny about a little girl being able to be mean to a little boy."

Charles M. Schulz, cartoonist and @$$#*!%.

Come on Winston you should know by now that women are better than men at everything, especially physical combat...

Watch this: http://youtu.be/rpROBzcm65w?t=15s

The next part ( http://youtu.be/yUHWpBlf554?t=14s ) is even more eye-opening, good thing there are women around to fix computer issues or we men would be lost and your website would always be down.

"Einsteins's wife"? Did you actually say "Einstein's wife?" And I thought I'd heard it all regarding historical revisionism.

So it's actually Mrs Einsteins Theory of Relativity? Was it his first or second wife? Poor Albert just doing what he was told, and taking all the credit. Typical.

Perhaps you can tell me about Isaac Newton's smarter girlfriend?

Or maybe Marconi's aunt, the real brains behind radio and who was "similarly downplayed".

And was it actually 'Louise' Pasteur, not Louis?

Can't forget marco polo's wife! She was the one who packed him his lunch before he sailed off.

I'm still laughting histerically.

Winston, this has been going on in movies for decades, well before 1995. For example, I just watched the James Bond movie, "Octopussy" which came out in 1983. Now I have seen this movie about 8 or 9 times and towards the end of the movie, you have these women beating up men who are over 6 feet tall and who probably weigh over 200 lbs.

The whole scene is comical, small petite women beating up men who are over 6 feet tall and weigh over 200 lbs. Only in the movies does this happen. I would like to see something like that happen in real life .............. it never would happen in real life! 8)

Okay, I may be something of a participant in this. I was just watching Ultraviolet which stars Milla Jovovich. These types of films aren't exactly supposed to be about aggressive Feminist women asserting power or anything. They're targeted towards men so you get 90 minutes of awesome action and a hot woman to stare at. There's even an ass shot of Violet after she's taken out a whole army of thugs. Plus Jovovich plays a very maternal character in the film with her acting as a surrogate mother/badass bodyguard for a ten year old boy. Luc Besson makes a number of films like this (and he was even married to Jovovich), the most obvious being La Femme Nikita. That film launched a whole wave of new action films, many of which Besson himself produced through his company Europacorp. Columbiana with Zoe Saldana is the most recent.

We all know Hollywood is programming society. They are trying to convince women that they don't need a man for any reason. The Tomb Raider movie is the best example I can think of showing women as heroes.

Greetings, Winston and everyone:

This is a topic that really angers me. Teal Lantern and Terminator have it right; character portrayal in current movies is a matter of indoctrination; I just don't watch them anymore. Nor do I read politically correct novels or biographies. I know about the indoctrination because I used to teach creative writing and literature in a United States university before I left the country to live in Mexico. Working in the English department of a USA college or university is like living in a Fascist state. The feminist oppression and indoctrination are everywhere and control everything. This political correctness not only affects us, but also the next generation. Young boys in the USA and the UK are being raised as manginas--feminist drones. Check out the site "Men's Rights Activism London" www.mralondon.org for more articles about that. I'm from the USA, and I live in Mexico, and I'm a member, so there's no problem.

I compiled a reading list of 34 novels and biographies on my own site "A Refuge for MRAs and Expatriates" that is man positive and nonfeminist (only one novel is mine). All of the books are politically incorrect to some degree. The books start with "Fahrenheit 451," a protest against government mind control, through the best of the James Bond novels (and only the earlier, Sean Connery movies), to "Disclosure," a novel about sexual harrassment directed by a woman toward a man, written by Michael Crichton, to "Run To Daylight" by Vince Lombardi to "We Were Soldiers Once . . . And Young, a Vietnam War memoir by Col. Harold G. Moore. There are also some references to the feminist abuse inflicted on boys now in USA primary and high schools. One is a nonfiction book titled "The War Against Boys," written by a woman, surprisingly: Dr. Christina Hoff Sommers.

The anti-male hostility in the USA reached the point where I left. Now I too am "happier abroad."

Hi William. You seem like you have a lot to say, so I hope to see more of your posts.

Did you see the latest Bond film, Skyfall? I suppose not. It was definitely Feminist propaganda. Instead of Bond being this cold blooded killer and womanizer they tried to make him vulnerable and have M as a surrogate mother - awful. Plus there are those pictures of Daniel Craig in drag. Casino Royale (2006) was great, but it seems the Feminists have succeeded in emasculating another icon.

Fahrenheit 451 is an excellent book! I also recommend the "Flipside of Feminism" by Suzanne Venker. Welcome to the forum, WilliamR.

Yes, I read The Flipside of Feminism as well. This sounds like a good idea for another topic though - books that are either explicitly anti-feminist or at least not infected by it.

Great sites you posted too William.

That's a factor too. Men like watching female action heros. But the rest of what I said about Hollywood portraying women as the stronger sex nowadays is also true too. There is a definite pattern there.

You actually sat through Ultraviolet? That film was the biggest garbage and insult to your intelligence I've ever seen. It made the Resident Evil movies by Milla Jovovich and the Rambo and Commando movies looks realistic by comparison. I've never seen an action flick that absurd before. It's like they were trying to insult your intelligence.

For a better female shootem flick, check out Aeon Flux.

Here is the trailer for that trashy film Ultraviolet:

Btw, it looks like the whole film Ultraviolet is on YouTube. Here it is if you want to have your intelligence insulted. lol

Hollywood likes to portray really hot women who can kick ass because it's a real turn-on for young men. The whole femme fatale thing. It's completely unrealistic. Actresses like Jennifer Garner with perfect bodies and faces who can beat the crap out of men much bigger and stronger than them. And they can do it without getting their nose broken or a tooth knocked out or even breaking a finger-nail. The actresses say they enjoy playing these roles but it's just to capitalize on guys' sexual fantasies.

I just saw "Zero Dark Thirty", a movie based on true events about the events from 911 onwards that lead to the killing of Bin-Laden. Star and big hero in the movie was a woman, made it look like she deserved most of the credit. Pretty ridiculous!
