There is a fair amount of long-term foreigners in other tourist destinations: Boracay and Palawan, for example. As far as I have heard, there are also a bunch of smaller but interesting cities that offer a good quality of life outside the major 3: Iloilo, Dumaguete, Iligan City, Clark, etc.

I read of foreigners from all around the world choosing to settle in the more remote parts of rural Visayas or Mindanao, to live in harmony with nature, kids and all.

The best thing about the Philippines is you won't find many western woman.

Sometimes I see a few white women on the bus going to the resorts. The fat ones are Americans and the thin ones are from Europe.
