As a hopeless romantic, I love romance movies. But they seem to be a thing of the past. Movies nowadays are either action/CGI oriented, or romantic comedies with cheap humor. I often watch older movies because they had better plots and characters.

What are your favorite romance movies of all time?

- Romeo and Juliet (1968)
- Jane Eyre (1943 and 2011 versions)
- Somewhere in Time (1980)
- The Thorn Birds (1983, TV miniseries)
- Shogun (1980)
- Titanic (1997)

I've always said I hate romance films. They seem so insincere and gimmicky.

But when you mentioned old movies, I actually do have a couple of favourites!

- Breakfast at Tiffany's
- Roman Holiday
- Some Like It Hot (funny)
- It's a Wonderful Life

I'm also partial to the older romantic movies but I wouldn't consider myself a fan of them in particular.

My all time favorite movie is "Weekend At Bernie's" and "Ironman" as a close second. I was never much for that whole Cinderella mindset. I guess I was always planted in more of a reality concept, or turning reality into comedy. I still don't know what it is that makes "Ironman" so enjoyable but it may be that I think that Robert Downey Jr. is a little hottie. I love that smile of his.

Have any of you seen "Summer of 42"? It's about a teen boy who falls in love with a beautiful adult female while her husband is away fighting WWII. This is an incredible masterpiece that will touch us all with memories of a lost love. It has a beautiful music score too. The trailer even says "In everyone's life, there's a Summer of 42". It reminds us of how innocent we were about love, dating and romance when we were teens. Very few movies capture what it was really like. This is one of them.

Watching the three boys talk about girls, dating and sex reminded me of how me and my friends were when I was in junior high, and girls were a curiosity and wonder to us. It's very nostalgic in that sense and reminds us of how innocent we were. We all have lost loves in our youth too, so this movie will touch us. And the music reflects the feeling well too. Check it out. It will bring back memories of a lost love in your life when you were young and innocent.
