In other societies, women don't have the gov't or a hard dick to fall back on when they make poor decisions. So, they have to beg for crumbs.
Nicaragua and The Philippines being considered more feminist does seem to be correct (never been to The Philippines, so can't comment on it other than from what I hear).
Nicaragua is horribly cheap, 15:1 exchange rate, etc.
On an episode of House Hunters: International there was a White couple (isn't it always?) who rented a place for $350 a month. They shared a kitchen with the other tennant. That seemed off putting at first but they seemed cool with it. I forgot what town it was, but it was off the tourist trail.
