The marriage strike

Post by jamesbond »

There is something called the marriage strike in the United States where more and more men are refusing to marry American women. If they do get married, they will only marry foreign women. Women inititated 72% of all divorces in America and the man gets taken to the cleaners in divorce court. Why should a man in American get married to an American woman? It's a bad business deal for the man! He is stuck with child support and maybe alimony to his ex-wife! Here are some links explaining the marriage strike in more detail, it's a real thing the 'marriage strike' I heard about it on the news and read about in newspapers. Approximately 25% of all men in America have agreed to this "marriage strike" and 12% of men in America are married to foreign women. Looks like I am a part of the "marriage strike" meaning I don't want to marry an American women, if I do tie the knot it will be with a foreign woman! :D

Careful, James. I've heard that some western European countries like Germany have divorce laws that are even MORE generous to women than American divorce laws. I haven't researched this, so I don't know this for a fact, but check before you marry!

In Germany, lawyers will tell you not to get married. But there is no big cash to be made in divorces, like here in the US, because attorneys fees are regulated and reasonable.

Also there is a 3 year waiting time before you get divorced.

I just talked to a Salvadoran who told me that his friend has to pay alimony and child support here in the USA and in El Salvador according to some new laws. I don't know how this pans out but it doesn't seem far from the truth.
In certain countries, which have family law reciprocity with the United States, long arm enforcement of child support or spousal support is possible. So yes, your friend's situation is indeed possible.
