Low self esteem vs Arbitrage.

Post by ladislav »

Men who travel abroad in search of love are often accused of having low self esteem.

Actually, they may not. But in the location they are in, they are being esteemed low by the society around them based on that society's SMV ( Sexual Market Values), and various other social measurements. These will only affect the man's self esteem if he accepts the above as fair.

For example, a man can feel pretty good about himself and value and esteem himself in just, well, a normal way. But what the society thinks of him, especially what the opposite sex thinks of him in his location may be low. The man can be a nice guy, be kind and decent and smart, but still be judged by standards which place him on a lower rung of the social ladder.

He may or may not choose to "improve" oneself to please the society outside of him. Some men disagree with living up to the unfair demands of the local market and simply decide to move to another market where they have better value as they are.

They basically practice arbitrage.

Compare it to say, Indian food. If you go to India and eat at a street stall, they will give you curry with rice and chicken tikka and it will be cheap, and basically, food for the poor masses there.

However, if an Indian moves to the US, and opens an Indian restaurant, that same food becomes expensive, exotic and luxury, and Americans will go to that restaurant as a special event. Men will invite women to dine there and eat food that is basically for low castes in India.
By changing locations, the food's market value improves.

MacDonald' is another example. In America, it is just fast food for common folks. But it is seen as luxury, sophisticated food from America in other countries. When MacDonald's opened in Moscow, it had long lines of people standing for many hours to taste what would, in America, be just regular fast food for regular people. In Thailand, a dinner at MacDonalds and Pizza Hut is for high class people. They dress up for that.
Whereas in America, Thai street food is seen as luxury.

Thais that go to the US and open Thai restaurants make big money selling what is unsightly street swill in Thailand, which costs under one dollar and which is cheap grub for road diggers and tuk-tuk drivers. That food is trash by Thai standards, but high in America.
So, a man dating in another country's dating market is a wise person who explores global opportunities and who has discovered arbitrage.

How is this arbitrage? Arbitrage is investing with little or no risk. Where is the investment in this example?

Arbitrage is also selling a product in a different location where it is worth more.
