Filtering weasel words and loaded questions

Post by momopi »

What are weasel words?

(From wiki): Weasel words is an informal term for words and phrases that, whilst communicating a vague or ambiguous claim, create an impression that something specific and meaningful has been said. Weasel words manage to vaguely imply meaning far beyond the claim actually made. For example, weasel words in advertisements may use phrases such as "up to 50% off", which is misleading because it does not say how many items are affected by the headline reduction, but it is implied that many items are affected. Some weasel words may also have the effect of softening the force of a potentially loaded or otherwise controversial statement through some form of understatement, for example using detensifiers such as "somewhat" or "in most respects".

How to respond to plurium interrogationum (loaded questions)

When someone ask you a loaded question, or make a loaded statement (presuppossition), the person is stating a conclusion that has already been assumed in the premise (petitio principii). Respond with walking away (preferred) or circulus in probando (circular arguement/reasoning) and lead them by the nose all over the map. The goal here is respond with the fewest effort (shortest answer) while making the person waste the most amount of time by typing a lengthy counter-arguement.

In life, the only thing that is certain is death. From the time that you're born, you're racing against time toward death. A minuet that is wasted can never be recovered. Spend your time wisely. When soneone bombards you with loaded questions/statements, the person is probably wasting your time. The most profitable response would be to simply ignore them. Or, if you must, "win" by making them waste more of their time than yours.

When someone wants your time, ask yourself if it's for leisure or profit. Leisure is something that you enjoy, like going fishing with your buddies. If you're not doing something that you enjoy, but is paid handosmely for your time, then that may be acceptable. If the person is wasting your time on something you don' care for, and is not compensating you financially for it, then you have no reason to entertain them.
