Tom Leykis explains why men should avoid relationships

Postby jamesbond » Sat Dec 03, 2011 2:09 am

Here Tom gives some scientific evidence why men should avoid marriage and relationships with women. Women change after marriage and often try to change men into the person they want him to be. It's a very interesting episode from Tom Leykis, check it out.

Haven't listened, but what does he suggest, men just go the route of one night stands and p4p?! What about guys that just want to be and feel normal? Not that many guys who can truly feel good about themselves going these alternate routes.
Most guys ideally would desire a decent relationship; aside from the negatives of a relationship, but just simply to feel normal. There are a large number of guys out there in this world hooked up, they are the majority. So it can't be all bad.
Considering this is the majority, for single guys to go the alternate routes, that just makes them feel abnormal. Who likes to feel abnormal and like an outcast?!!

There is logic into the increasing negatives of marriage for a man, but no relationships at all? I can see a freedom in it, but not fulfilling. I think I'd rather just not be around.

Are the ones not already hooked up just becoming more and more doomed and their choices are narrowing to flings and p4p, or even just p4p in locations where flings are not easy to make happen?

What's happening in this world. Looks like there seems to be less and less room for the good guys out there that are not hooked up, but looking to simply have some sort of normal existence.
Like arriving to a buffet, but there were booked 3 times the amount of guests and they also forget to tell you, it started 4 hours earlier than the scheduled time!

Like I said, I haven't listened, but I'm also writing in response to hearing this from other sources.

Who knows, by some miracle, maybe some people can offer a supporting argument for single men to either p4p, go with flings or just be alone. But I just can't see what type of fulfilling existence that would be. Especially when the normal path, ideally what is the correct and most fulfilling path (when done decently) is paraded all around you daily by the masses of others in relationships. Sure, they may not be the best, but at least they are "normal". Who likes being an outcast.

Jamesbond, it's not an attack of you posting, it's just that I really don't understand how the alternatives can work short of just being like McBurgers, empty calories.

Before I write, just want to be clear - I grew up witnessing all sorts of broken families all around so I well understand this issue and agree mostly.
The concern I have (one of them of many), is that in the same manner as how feminism caused huge destruction and therefore division of one of the core fabrics of a society (important to note here, it is more rampant in Western societies non-coincidentally) I see at times how various popular speakers such as Leykis sort of being like the other side of this dividing coin.
Ok, he was divorced 4 times, that's unfortunate but pushing for more division and selfishness is not a solution.
I am not aware really of a solution right now, it's an awful mess we're in, but I can say, Tom is not really helping for the long term solution.
Helping guys to avoid potential divorces, ok, but not much for a long term solution.

You know, the more one ponders -
Feminism (Freidan, Steinam), PUA (Eben Pagan aka David DeAngelo, Jeffries, Strauss), the mix of trashy tv talk shows (Springer, Lake, etc.), all sorts of books, radio talk shows like this Leykis, etc, they all are no good long term solutions, mostly cause division and they yield end results of destruction. The important division to note here is lack of a functional family and having children - keep up that trend and a people eventually dwindle out.
Sure, some people just have way too many children, can't take care of them and it's way out of balance, but they don't listen to these speakers anyway.
Interestingly enough, coincidentally, the majority who actually partake are ones in Western countries. Gee, that's interesting.

But hey, just my opinion and take on things.
I know there are ones who choose to not have children, and you see this writing as irrelevant. Although, common sense would dictate, someone has to have the children in order to carry on a people. Unless a person is of the type thinking people should just die out. In which case, we just can't see eye-to-eye.

Want to emphasize again, I have well come across my share of an incredibly unbalanced amount of nasty, controlling, ___ fill-in-the-blank type of women, I'm just saying, there has to be some better solutions.
As I have also said in other posts, this is not just an American issue either, although it is very strong in America.
