After nearly 20 years of growth in the online dating/matchmaking industry, offline is making a big comeback. Why online matchmaking is prone to massive fraud, intentional and unintentional. Men complain that women's profile pictures have no resemblance to the way they really look. Both men and women constantly use old photos from 10 to 20 years in the past. Also with people now taking literally thousands of photos of themselves, they have a chance to find one that makes them look really good. If you have 1,000 photos of yourself and pick the one the make you look your best, most likely it not going to be a real representation of yourself. James of Scottsdale, Arizona, was so frustrated about the way women looked that he started asking women to meet him outside the restaurant and then he would sit in his car with binoculars to see if they even came close to looking like their profile picture. If they did not, he would just stand them up.
Men also make themselves sound better physical and economically. The term "$30,000 dollar millionaire" was coined to describe men who drive very high-end cars but are flat broke. Women start dating these men, thinking they are extremely wealthy, then later find out they live at home with their mothers. So there is no wonder many men and women feel like the Internet is just too laced with fraud.
Jenny from Wisconsin says she is frustrated that men online are fixated on women's appearances and have no interest in getting to know the person inside. Dating expert Steven says men's brains are hardwired to look for a mate that will have a high probability of producing and caring for offspring, just as women are hardwired to search for men who can be good providers for the family. Evolutionary biologists have discovered a lot of the physical traits we consider attractive have a sound basis in genetics.
Many websites have now started doing ID verifications, guaranteeing that the person posting the profile is who they say they are, but this only addresses their identity, not their social standing or appearance. Over the years many companies have been trying to use live video chat to help its clients get a real Idea of the persons appearance. But so far, no company has had a great success with this. One of the main reasons is that women tend to surf dating sites at night, after they have come home from work or school. At that point, they have removed their makeup and dress more casually; thus, they do not feel comfortable with live video.
So with so many users dissatisfied with online experience, many users are just giving up online dating, citing too many bad experiences. According to industry experts, as many as 50% of women do not show up for dates made online. So what is the best way to find love? For age groups in the early 20s, social events (work, school, bars, parties, and activities) are still one of the main methods of meeting someone that leads to a serious relationship. These seem to work much less well as men and women get older. When you are in your 30s or 40s, your options decrease, as the people you meet in social environments are more likely to be already in a relationship, disqualified due to personal reasons, have children, pay alimony, medical issues and so on. This group from the mid-30s and up has the hardest time finding love online or in their everyday social life. So what seemed to be a dying industry is now having a rebirth. Matchmakers and speed dating companies are booming. The singles events company Pre Dating now offers over 1,000 speed dating events yearly in the US, some upper-end matchmaking services like Executive Global Match charge from $15,000 to $25,000. It's Just Lunch and Great Expectations start off around $5,000 for arranging dates.
One of the biggest jumps in offline matchmaking is the international matchmaker or foreign bride industry. A Foreign Affair has combined offline with online matchmaking. A unique business, it requires all women to come into a local office in one of thirty different countries. This guarantees the appearance of the women and their identity. The men must fill out a background form. The men can correspond with the women online, but when they are ready to meet, they have the option going on one of the company's group tours and attend several events they call "Socials or Dating on Steroids." These events consist of 20 to 50 men and 200 to 500 women. The men travel in groups to Russia, Ukraine, Asia, and Latin America. All women are prescreened by their local offices. Kenneth Agee, co-founder, says, "This is the ideal situation. We screen the women for looks and sincerity. The women love the events because they know men who travel this far are very serious about finding wives. It is a perfect combination. Just think about the last time you were in a room with hundreds of beautiful single women all looking for love."
Neil Clark Warren, CEO, co-founder and spokesperson for eHarmony, is the most recognized face in the online matchmaking industry. As EHarmony moved back to offline matchmaking, Warren went on Fox News to say, "Let us do all the work. You will never get a rejection letter again. We talk to you before, and we talk to them after, and we get you at least one match per month." The new offline matchmaking service is $5,000 per year with a minimum of 12 matches a year. eHarmony has gone thought several shakeups over the years, but has returned to its roots as a matchmaker service instead of being a dating site.
USD 5.000,- ? Sorry, but is this a typing mistake? This is crazy. Better get a passport and get on an airplane, international flight and do the introduction yourself - for USD 5000,- you can meet really many girls in various countries and enjoy otherwise nice holidays.
About introduction itself, many Asian girls are into gossip and helpful to meet other girls they know and introduce them to men they know. It takes a little time and patience, but except some meals and other small expenses, this is fun and for free.
Yes, there are also exclusive introduction services here in Japan with an agent between, without internet, from person to person after screening them, they are expensive too, about USD 2000,- to USD 3000,- for both, women and men as far as I know, but this is not for long distance introduction, but only from locals to locals.
Sounds almost a scam to me. In USA? Obviously there are idiots paying for that?
Offline matchmaking needs to make a comeback. Even out the sexual market value of both sexes. You know I'm not on that pathetic MGTOW stuff, but at the same time, it's a sad day when a fat chick can carry whoreness and a god-awful attitude to match on a site like craigslist and have her pick of the litter. My generation better wake up though. We're the technophiles. Can't live without the next app or latest iDevice! Look at reddit. The amount of "social anxiety" (and other illnesses) posts is a headscratcher.

There was a scene from the movie outsourced. This American goes to India as his company outsourced everything there and he is to get them up to speed.
He is staying with a local family and his female landlord starts asking if he is married or has a girlfriend and then asks him if he wants to meet a nice Indian girl.
I would just plotz if someone ever made a serious off like that to me. India or anywhere else.
I've head the matchmaker thing in Japan is still a thing. After 40 odd years of not really finding any female I can truely connect with let alone would be interested in me, I'd be so down for a pragmatic... you are better than being alone, why the f**k not lets make the best of it arrangement. Seems that is still a thing in Japan.
I've heard girls trying to hook guys up [hey my friend so and so etc] but it never happens to me. Well this one time when I asked and she pretty much had nothing. Usually when I bring up the idea females suddenly don't know anybody and the male friends I've had in the past were equally useless as I was to them.
5 grand though... not unless it had a firm guarantee or I had lotto money so that 5 grand is nothing.

Heyyyyyy man. Get the F out there. You don't really need one. Just go to the right country. I'm thinking of making an actual "good countries" list, but with an emphasis on objectivity. That takes a lot of work though. It all boils down to what a man wants.

My widowed father is 83. I figure by the time he takes the big dirt nap it will be time to go. Hopefully interest rates will be back to a more reasonable level to the benefit of the Canadian banks and insurance companies at around the same time.
I am sort of figuring there is no point staying in Canada with no friends and no women. I can do just about everything I do here anywhere else. Not like my life can be much worse. I have a friend 5 hours away and he is still in touch with the nerdlings and lives in a much bigger city near the center of the universe [Toronto]. Anything would be better than here.
I was tempted to start a similar thread but more personal. A list of countries with their pro and cons from my personal perspective, get a feel what the best target if you will. Perhaps provide a language focus. [See below]
They all seem to have their positives and their negatives. Also said positives and negs can vary a bit from person to person.
I might not need a matchmaker depending on where I go, but being introduced around does make it easier.
Matchmaker or not, at this point though I do give up on soulmate. ideally sure I'd love an adorkable girl who looks like Kate Micucci or Lauren Lapkus who actually digs me, had nerd tendencies, down with at least a subset of things like Monty Python, Kids in the Hall, the Frantics Jimmy Carr, Sarah Silverman and has at least some interests that make normal people go WTF NERD!. Toss in red hair, huge cheeks, brutally pale and awkward and I'm golden. I think I'll hold out for superpowers than finding a girl with even some of those qualities who hasn't been snatched up.
At this point, not repulsive. Won't ditch my ass and believes in compromise and making things work. Won't turn off the sex the moment the ring is on the finger. Won't turn into a nagging demon hag [1 mother was enough], and will accept my very modest income stream. Oh and no kids. Both in her not having kids and in terms of no pedo *
My biggest obstacle in the happier abroad dream is the fear of being dumped. Both the heartbreak and the financial rape are things I'd like to avoid [Prenups yes but they are not ironclad and they don't apply over here if the government has to support her ass]
With my history I just can't believe any woman would want to be with me except for cash and don't see how she would find a guy she would prefer on the side/bolt the moment residency was achieved if I came back here.
The other thing is I really don't want to live overseas forever. Fine for a few years but well
Japan is doomed economically and a pretty depressing place.
China is filled with toxic everything and is crowded [50 lane 5 day traffic jams] although if I get superpowers from all the pollution traffic jams not a problem.
Thailand and Philippines are not far behind China and being wifeys family's ATM machine.
India is even more filthy than China and more crowded and the last three are hot as balls.
At least from what I hear.
Also as the non Japanese places wealth up in the next 40 years my relative income will go down. Also in Canada I am looking at a combined about 1500 bucks a month before clawbacks from the OAS, GIS, GAINS, and various tax rebates in Ontario. That is a nice hunk of change to turn down.
At this point I am learning Japanese [no tones, no overlapping letter sounds like Hindi, tests I can pass to get extra useless paper on the wall, difficult thus impressive]
At some point I'll be looking to learn something else. If I had a country in sight I could get a head start on said language while I wait.
Why don't boxers fight before a match. They don't fancy each other. -Jimmy Carr.
