Call centers open to US tax on outsourcing
LOCAL COMPANIES taking in work outsourced from the United States are open to a proposal by a US senator to disclose and tax each call to an overseas contact center to discourage American firms from outsourcing to low-cost labor countries.

The Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPA/P) vowed not to go around such a scheme if it becomes law in the US, but said outsourcing is dictated by cost and therefore inevitable.
In a bid to reduce outsourcing of US jobs, a Democratic senator said on Sunday he will push legislation to make companies inform customers when their calls were being transferred outside the United States and charge companies for those transferred calls.
