Interesting AI apps

Post by Lucas88 »

I never really gave too much of a shit about computers beyond basic functions such as internet access and videogames before but now I find the whole AI phenomenon fascinating and would like to keep up to date with quickly evolving developments. I'm about to order a book on the general topic of AI and I often read news articles on whatever new AI app has just come out.

I first tried out ChatGPT, which everyone was raving about, and began to use it to research all kinds of obscure topics of a philosophical, scientific or occult nature. I soon realized that my conversations with ChatGPT were far deeper and more interesting than those with more than 90% of the people who I meet in real life and so I became hooked, sometimes using the app for 10 hours straight.

Then I saw the AI generative artwork apps, first on a YouTube video and then some of the AI-generated art that Tsar sent me. Wow! Now AI programs can make visual art better than most people can!

Finally, I came across a virtual world created with Unity 5 and with AI smart NPCs which hold natural spoken conversations with the player. I thought that it was amazing in and of itself but also saw the great potential that such a development could have for language learning.

I want this to be a thread where we can share and discuss the most recent AI apps.

ChatGPT

https://openai.com/blog/chatgpt
ChatGPT is a form of generative AI -- a tool that lets users enter prompts to receive humanlike images, text or videos that are created by AI. ChatGPT is similar to the automated chat services found on customer service websites, as people can ask it questions or request clarification to ChatGPT's replies.

Baidu's Ernie Bot

Ernie Bot is China's rival app to ChatGPT, now released for public use. I've still not tried it. I wonder how much the flavor of its content differs from that of ChatGPT.

FreedomGPT

https://www.freedomgpt.com/
FreedomGPT 2.0 is your launchpad for AI. No technical knowledge should be required to use the latest AI models in both a private and secure manner. Unlike ChatGPT, the Liberty model included in FreedomGPT will answer any question without censorship, judgement, or risk of ‘being reported.’
FreedomGPT is purported to be a completely uncensored chatbot dedicated to freedom of information. I still haven't downloaded it yet. I heard that it might contain malware and so I pussied out. If anybody has used FreedomGPT and can confirm that it's safe to install, please tell us how your experience with the chatbot went! :)

Stable Diffusion

https://stablediffusionweb.com/
Stable Diffusion is a latent text-to-image diffusion model capable of generating photo-realistic images given any text input, cultivates autonomous freedom to produce incredible imagery, empowers billions of people to create stunning art within seconds.
Stable Diffusion is the AI generative artwork app which Tsar shared with me.

Please share any AI apps that you find interesting and comment on them!

Re: Interesting AI apps

Today I was talking to @publicduende about current AI apps so I thought that I would update this thread. :)

As I mentioned in my original post, I wasn't too interested in AI until last year. I've known since the mid 2010s about the predictions that AI will "take over". I was already familiar with the writings of futurists like Ray Kurzweil who has since the 90s predicted full automation of the economy and the emergence of what he calls the "Singularity" by around 2045. However, I put the topic of AI in the back of my mind and just forgot about it for the most part.

Fastforward to 2023 and generative AI began to make major waves with ChatGPT. Since then we have been seeing hundreds of incredible AI apps emerging and capturing public attention. Some of these are nothing short of authentic wizardry. I must confess that I'm now a believer. 8)

Here are some AI apps that I've recently discovered:

Consensus

Consensus is an AI tool which finds and summarizes research articles on a variety of topics including medicine, social policy and economics.

Pictory

Pictory just made making videos much easier with its script-to-video function, AI voiceovers and many visuals to choose from.

Now for some more cutting-edge stuff!

Udio

Udio, although still in its infancy, is an AI platform that allows anybody to create music using written prompts in a matter of minutes. If you thought that the use of synthesizers in the 80s was bad, this technology will completely revolutionize the creation of music!

Sora AI

Sora AI is a video generator which is currently being developed by OpenAi, the same company that created ChatGPT. As you can see in the video, the user enters written prompts in 100% natural human language and Sora AI produces lifelike videos. :o

The videos that Sora AI is currently producing are already seriously good. Imagine what AI video generation will be like a few years from now!
