To be honest, I think that the Mediterranean countries have brought your problems onto yourselves. You lived like kings under a bloated welfare state while barely working, and you flipped the middle finger at more industrious countries the whole time, gloating about how superior your societies were for living that way. Italy and Spain were the two worst offenders with this, worse than Portugal, Greece and France combined.

Your second fatal mistake was to let in a flood of Third-World immigration under the twin delusions of 'anti-racism' and 'labour shortages', and your original population can't be bothered to replace itself, nor to continue its own cultural traditions.

You relied on the German powerhouse in order to keep partying, but now complain bitterly when they attempt to keep you solvent via 'austerity'. You scream 'social justice' without wanting to contribute much of anything to it yourselves.
