I don't use iPhones.

I suppose "sequential prerequisites" might suffice instead of the word "goals". Even gamers in the US don't play games because "it's a challenge", though there are exceptions.
Then again, some people go all the way (cognitive dissonance/fallacy of incomplete evidence).
