What's the general rule if a girl asks about your job?

I take exactly the same approach. I regularly ask the women I meet on Cherry Blossoms what they do for a living for exactly the same reasons you do. And I don't have a problem if they ask me what I do for a living. Few of the women I've met on CB have asked that question straight out.davewe wrote:Perhaps you work for the CIA, but for most people it's not a big state secret. STOP kissing women's ass. How do you expect that these women will ever stop being such spoiled little bitches if you guys continue to kiss their ass?
1. Works (what she does is less important)
2. Is chronically unemployed.
3. Is a student
4. Lives off her family
5. Lives off her husband
6. Lives off the money her chatmates send her
In the case of my job it requires a little explanation for most foreign women, so the first time I am asked I give out a more generic term, then if we are still chatting weeks or months later I can be more specific.
It seems to me it is pretty common in normal human discourse for the subject to come up and it occurs quickly. Meeting someone new and having them say "so what do you do" or "what's your job" seems pretty standard to me. The idea that someone should only like me for me but not care how I spend 40 hours a weeks seems weird.
Now of course if a foreign girl online asked how much I make that would be a deal breaker and none of her business.

When chatting with Chinese women on QQ (a popular Chinese instant messenger), 99% of them will ask you what you do for a living within one minute of the start of the conversation. Many of them will ask what you do for a living before they even ask you your nationality.manly5000 wrote:Just wondering what you all normally do when you're chatting up foreign girls on dating sites and she asks what you do for a living fairly quickly?
Is it pretty common for say, Filipinas to ask about it after only a couple messages?
And it doesn't matter if you're talking to them in English or Chinese, they will always ask you what you do for a living right away. So in other words, Chinese women ask this question to all men, whether they're foreign or not.

There is no RULE.
If you feel like telling her tell her; if you don't tell her it is none of her business. It really is that simple.

I'm guessing the reason this post was made is because the OP was concerned about the motivations of females who ask about what he did for a living.OutsideoftheBox wrote:If you feel like telling her tell her; if you don't tell her it is none of her business. It really is that simple.
Wielding the blade of evil's bane, he sealed the dark one away and gave the land light. This man, who traveled through time to save the land, was known as the Hero of Men. The man's tale was passed down through generations until it became legend...

Correct. I can verify this. I think they are asking this to get a profile on you. Not to size you up to see if you can pay for their bills or whatever.Everdred wrote:When chatting with Chinese women on QQ (a popular Chinese instant messenger), 99% of them will ask you what you do for a living within one minute of the start of the conversation. Having lived in Bangkok for three months now, I can confirm that Thai women do the exact same thing. The question often gets asked within seconds of the conversation beginning.royalism wrote:Correct. ...and that's why I treat women as children because only children ask if you have money so they can buy something. It's ubiquitous how women are. Now with feminism introduced into the equation, that alone would immensely exacerbate women's childishness.Everdred wrote:Having lived in Bangkok for three months now, I can confirm that Thai women do the exact same thing.
