Re: Is Winston a genius?

From what I've read on this site, he certainly seems like a very bright person. I think the word "genius" is overused though. Albert Einstein was a genius. So was Henry Ford. I'd call Elon Musk a genius as well.

Re: Just got back from Puerto Rico

Unless you plan on staying in San Juan, I'd recommend getting a car. The main attractions in San Juan can be seen in about a day - the forts and old San Juan.

Just got back from Puerto Rico

I just got back from 10 wonderful days in Puerto Rico. I don't believe I've been anywhere with such laid back, nice people. They seemed chill and relaxed. Puerto Rico is absolutely beautiful - hilly tropical island with many fantastic beaches, turquoise water, and not overrun with tourists with the ...

Re: Do most of us have Asperger's or are we just too introverted and freethinking?

I believe online forums in general are havens for introverts and people with Asperger's. It's socializing without many of the pressures of face-to-face interactions.

Re: What would you do if you became homeless?

Become a criminal. That would be a last resort. Good luck getting a job that pays over minimum wage with a criminal record. Also, a lot of countries require background checks for visas. But if it came down to it, the types of crimes where you could end up in a federal minimum security prison would ...

Asian immigrants returning to Asia

I have a coworker who was born in Vietnam, moved to the U.S. when he was 12, and just a couple of weeks ago he moved back to Vietnam. He's in his mid-30s and although he wouldn't say it, I wonder how dissatisfied he was with life in the U.S. He wasn't married or dating anyone, and he lived in a smal...

Women pitching fits

A lot of American women are known for throwing childish temper tantrums over incredibly petty nonsense because they aren't getting their way - yelling, slamming doors, etc. They remind me of toddlers. Is that primarily an American thing, or do women act like that everywhere? What areas of the world ...

Re: Why is it so hard to make friends in America?

I think it's mainly the culture of selfishness and not trusting other people, combined with the passive aggressive, two-faced nature of most Americans. I too have noticed that I get along much better with immigrants, especially in the workplace. I enjoyed working with an Indian and a Nigerian. They ...

Adjectives which describe typical Americans

1. Fat 2. Stupid 3. Aggressive 4. Selfish 5. Fake 6. Rude 7. Greedy 8. Unfriendly or I guess all of these could be summed up with one adjective: Unpleasant. I'd say about 1 out of every 20 people in the U.S. are truly caring, kind-hearted, decent people who are enjoyable to spend time with. Good peo...

Re: Photo: As obvious as the blue sky but taboo to talk about

Strangers will talk to you in restaurants in towns with less than 500 people. I went on a road trip to the Panhandle area of Texas recently, and in the dinky towns like that, the restaurant owner and/or other guests will talk to you the whole time you're eating. They usually ask where you're from si...

Re: Wouldn't it be nice to have a decent social circle?

No. Doing things with one or two like-minded people is enjoyable. If they're not around, I'm perfectly happy doing things on my own.

With 4 or 5 people, there are too many people talking and competing for each other's attention.

Do men from other countries visit/expat to America for our women?

I was just thinking about some foreign guy coming over to the U.S. because he has some weird fetish for fat, ill-tempered White women. I guess there are some men in other countries who have that kind of fetish, or maybe they are masochistic. I can't imagine there are large numbers of them though. Mo...

Re: El Paso, Texas - The least American city

I just visited El Paso right after Christmas and loved it. I spent a couple of days hiking around the Franklin Mountains and as usual when hiking, the people on the trails were friendly. Unfortunately, parts of the trails were closed due to COVID I assume, but there were still plenty of trails open ...

Re: What is your opinion on the number of satellites?

Global internet access is a good thing. As far as astronomers' concerns go, space telescopes can do more than ground-based telescopes which are more affected by satellite constellations. I can see why some amateur astronomers are PO'ed, but global internet access is more important. Also, SpaceX will...

Re: 3 Reasons Why you should not marry an American woman

So many American women are just bitches. They have a meanness to them and love to stir up drama and pick fights over petty nonsense.

Why on Earth would I want to spend the rest of my life with someone like that?
