Very fair question.

For me, it comes down to dominance. I believe Christians are commanded to rule the world, not retire from it. As corollary, Christians should master useful technology for useful purposes.

And know how to shoot, litigate, debate, etc.

abc, think about it i am playing some pick up basketball with the homies and some idiot is kidnapping my bride because he thinks itÂ´s a cool thing to do. obviously i have to quit the game and kick the bastard.

anyway, kidnapping a bride makes one not very happy. think of atilla he didnÂ´t watch his back and was killed by his kidnapped bride. one never knows.

think about it i am living in my appartment and some people are rolling in to the building with guns and stuff because my neighbor had the glorious idea to kidnap a bride. this ainÂ´t cool. thatÂ´s no style.

marriage is outdated so is kidnapping. primitive people thatÂ´s why they got killed with high tech weapons because they want to live their cruel primitiv lifes. you want to live like an animal so you got treated as one.

but maybe i donÂ´t see the good side of it because the films about these topics are disgusting. in turkey there are many such films. horrible

same with marriage after rape. in turkey currently one popular movie is made about this topic and itÂ´s somehow disgusting.

It's not as simple as joining a Church or converting to a new faith. One must find an Amish community that's willing to "consider' accepting you, live with an Amish family for some years to learn their ways & the Pennsylvania Dutch language.

Billy I don't care to get into Near Eastern history lessons here but I just wanted to say thank you for your serious comment, and I salute you for being on the right side of this. Women are precious and are to be protected and cherished.

Well I mean it depends on the context here. The theory is that it used to be a warrior ritual. I'm far from one to criticize such a powerful display of masculinity. In the National Geographic program it was consensual anyway. The girl wasn't betrothed to anyone and was in love with the guy who kidnapped her.

Bride capture is obviously a thousand times better than the current Western system of relying on the mindless whims of skanks, but I would have thought it had its drawbacks when it came to knitting families together and sealing political alliances. Better to let the men of the female's family, particularly her father, decide who she should marry.
