I know it is only a Jolibee advert but still, women doing their vile shit is a worldwide phenomenon.

It's a famous one of a series of deep, tearjerking ads from Jollibee. Come on, don't read too much into it... It's meant to show that a man's love can take many shapes, including a genuine friendship.

Of course it's very hard to imagine a FIlipino (or any other nationality) man who would befriend a hot girl like that without even trying to be more than a friend! :D

I really enjoy the artistic content of the Jolibee ads... Happy ending for him though!

This one is one of my favourites.

I think the trend started in Thailand.

Thailand: I can make people around the world cry while being good to my advertiser.
Philippines: Hold my tissue box...

People who say stuff like this are more concerned with being romantic than being honest. If you think you will always be there whenever your wife needs you and that you will always be patient with your wife, you have an unrealistic view of yourself. You have got to go to work sometime. Are you going to leave the office if she needs some kind of help. No. Are you never going to be impatient? That's unrealistic.

Another stupid promise I've heard is, "I promise I will never make you cry." I think I have seen on some reality show where a man promised the parents he would never make their daughter cry or be unhappy, or something like that, or the parents wanted that promise. What kind of parents would live 50 or 60 years and not know that any husband is most likely going to make his wife cry over something. If she cares about him, something he's going to do is probably going to make her cry sometime. At the very least, she's going to be sad about something. This is real life, not a Halmark card.

I am interested to know what the perspective on this is in Indonesia. Here in the Philippines, for what I have seen, people always put feelings over reason. They always put overly romantic, cheesy contents over honest and truthful ones. They always give more importance to their subjective, partisan views than objective, science or common sense-backed views.

I think it's in their DNA and I think those ads should be seen with this kind of audience in mind. Of course the reality is that "the best friend who will never make you cry" is just a unicorn. That's what works for them, at least in the commercials: an overly sweet, romantic, positive, optimistic message that can be easily associated to the "positive qualities" of the Jollibee food.

Do Jollybee women get fat like McDonald's women?

I've eaten at Jollybee once, the one in Hawaii. The chicken was good.

Jollibee is a luxury for most young Filipinos.
