The middle class kids will have student debt and start at the bottom along with the herd for a very slow rise in society, wherein their nominal wages will not rise in parity with cost-of-living and they will eventually be another house in the suburb with a mortgage with fading job security. Fact is even engineering or so STEM fields will not help the new generation as research is now moving abroad. Personally I give the science fields boom another 10 years or so.
Europe is the big leagues as it will be a quick drain in resources. Winston cannot fck with Europe, nor can many posters here due to costs associated with Europe. I'm not talking about a quick 3 week vacation, I'm talking about permanent relocation. Azora is a good example, if you still have his thread, please share.
About teaching ESL. Fact is that ESL teachers have a racial hierarchy -- this is a white man's game unfortunately. Ladislav has a post about this, and i've seen this happen. Minority guys do not have the fallback option of teaching ESL and the sooner they realize this.. well you know.
Regarding Sk8board with his cost-of-living, please don't mistake standard-of-living with quality-of-life. I am think he is doing much better at his current location. In the end we are not talking about dollar and cents here, but rather the unquantifiable which is whether you will be indeed happier abroad.
Why do you believe ESL teachers have racial hierarchy and for White men? I'll have you know I have seen and heard Black men from America and the UK teach English in China and Brazil without any issues and get paid well. This is a false belief. I also know a Black man from America teaching English in Poland, he blogs about it.
He (Stephen) is doing better, but his standard of living is below that of the average American and leads him to have the views he does because its location, location, location. Let's just say he doesn't live in a posh suburb of Salvador... I will let him discuss where and how he lives and if that's a major or a minor improvement over his life in one of the biggest cities in America.
He
is happier abroad; For one, he's married and (2) cost of living has been reduced by the value of 2:1. That said electronics and things we take for granted in America cost a ton. A BMW X5 cost 1.3 Million Reals.... IPhone 5 goes for $1200US. Large name brand flat screen TV's and laptop PC's are very expensive in Brazil due to import tariffs. Clothes are expensive and come from same places on the planet.
I have been deeply researching Brazil and I understand why its not a popular place in Latin America for expats.
I spent 45 days in Europe and I deem it affordable but maybe not at the level needed to bag HQ women unless you speak whatever the local language is or start your own business online.
You can get a decent apartment/flat in Berlin for about $500-$650US and it won't be too small. I found a job doing entry level IT for DHL that pays pretty well, it was in the Czech Republic. Rent in Prague is reasonable about $700US, you could spend less but being a former Soviet State, I wouldn't recommend it.
Like I said the about the link, its updated and current. Recommend European countries are Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, or Bulgaria.
No EU powerhouses are mentioned.
I wouldn't really recommend Hungary if you're not White, Non-Jewish. A right wing party has been elected and anti-Jewish rhetoric is very high at the moment.
