This forum is seriously turning into flame wars, trolls and other kinds of haters. It's getting pretty pathetic in many ways. There needs to be stronger moderation here. I'm open minded about people's opinions but it's getting ridiculous nowadays. Personal attacks and name calling are so middle/high school. It's not warranted on a forum; like what kind of person takes the time to bash someone they have never personally met just cause they are pissed about what they wrote? I can maybe understand if you personally know them and so have some kind of connection but on a virtual forum? I think it will just turn off the good posters in the long run and you can see this happening as of now. Sometimes being too liberal about the posting rules actually impedes the long term survival of discussion boards.

I suspect that a major issue is that many of our topics, hits upon core issues and deep-rooted psychological underpinnings.

For example, the image of the baby Jesus and the Madonna/Mother Mary is a huge part of, I believe, the archetype of the male upbringing. Hence, many fellas unconsciously aspire for that connection. After all, it's in the mosaic of the religion itself, along with some natal experiences. In the latest blow up, Oil Trader/Hal Lindsey was repeatedly subjected to the idea that women were more the Pop Star Madonna than the Mother Mary one. Well, after a while, it hits critical mass and the firestorm erupts, with Biblical flamethrowing et al. I'm not surprised, just surprised at how quickly it happened.

So yeah, I agree, people who enter this forum have got to realize that it's non-mainstream, plain and simple. Adulating women or hosting sacred cows, isn't what goes on here. Instead, it's an honest look at ourselves and the world(s) we live in, with a few sidebars and add-ons.

It would be good to have some kind of rule prohibiting the abuse of pictures. It gets really burdensome to scroll through a thread and see page after page of huge-sized pictures making some irrelevant silly point. It also gives the forum the quality of being a teenager hangout.

Simple life rules. Going online is like being invited to someones house for dinner. If they ask you to remove your shoes and put on slippers you do it. If not then leave. You either introduce yourself to other people there or wait to be introduced. You do not demean your hosts house or children, you keep everything polite. Simple right yet so many people refuse to treat online engagements in the same way, like they were home trained.
I tell Winston all the time this is your house and if this was my house you would be thrown out immediately for creating some of these infractions.
Basically if you are a Tom Leykis fan then this place is for you. If not then the 700 Club or Creflo Dollar or any of these other religious places.

Considering that a Filipina woman, married to an old friend of mine, is one of my best friends, you'll never see me engage in that type of national/ethnic mud slinging. But that's just it, I ignore it and move on. I let the sidebars have their day in the sun.

As for the age thing, I don't see any pedophiles here, despite the sentiment towards younger women.

And even for me, < 25 is too young these days. I want a woman in her thirties who understands life a bit more.

The problem is not enough people on here get involved. Most of the members of this forum lurk in the background but never say anything. And there are a lot of readers who won't create usernames and don't contribute anything. So it becomes a popularity contest on certain topics. If you're got an opinion that's unpopular in modern culture, too bad. It means you're a nut-case and you will be given the same treatment you would get on any other forum. You repeatedly read how the men on here are free-thinkers but besides one or two issues, they're really not. Also we tend to only respond when we disagree with someone. I know when I read something I really appreciate, I rarely respond. If the topic is truly original and "fringe", silence might further alienate the writer.

I think we're all here for the same reason, we're refused a lie. You can categorize it many ways. We can call the lie American women. Or modern marriage. Or just feminism. Or Anglo-American society.
