Kobe Bryant's divorce settlement
Kobe Bryant's divorce settlement
http://www.ktla.com/news/landing/ktla-k ... 2438.story
It appears that Kobe's ex-wife will be getting $75M+ in the settlement.
Now, let's say that instead of getting married, Kobe had decided to sponsor someone at let's say $20K per month ... a sugar daddy type of engagement.
In ten years, with continuous assignments, that's a mere $2.4M. In contrast, Vanessa Bryant will be earning 31+ times that amount of money. And realize, Kobe had already been supporting her lifestyle for 10+ years, the alimony is in addition to that And no, she's not a successful businesswomen with talent to boot, this is mere compensation for sticking around all this time.
Thus, was it worth it for someone of Kobe's earning potential to ever get married?

If I was Kobe, I would be sleeping with a different broad every night and would of not gotten married, at least not until I was in my 40's. He is one of the best players in the NBA and is living in southern California, home to some of the hottest women in the US.S_Parc wrote:Thus, was it worth it for someone of Kobe's earning potential to ever get married?
Now the Lakers did lose tonight to Oklahoma City but Kobe did have a good night. OKC is just too good a team for the Lakers to beat. I predict the Oklahoma City Thunder will be in the finals this year. I predicted that before the season started. I also predicted the Miami heat would be in the finals this year.
We will see who will be in the finals this year! I like the Thunder, they are a good young team, with one hell of a good player, Kevin Durant!

No he never should have gotten married and neither should have Tiger Woods. I think a lot of these guys are just lonely up top and looking for trophy wives who they mistakingly believe will love them to have kids with. The problem is the type of woman to orbit an athlete's social circle is most likely the type you should not marry under any circumstances.
High status/wealthy guys like this pretty much need to stick to accomplished women of similar status if they really want to get married. That means dating celebrities etc.. which a lot of actors seem to do. Tony Parker was married to Eva Longoria for a long time and that worked out until he started poking other women. However she didn't rake him over the coals in a settlement either because she is already wealthy and famous.

You just nailed it. I posted on a different tread: the man should always pick the woman not the other way around. When the women is lurking around trying to catch a rock star or athlete SHE is the hunter and YOU are the hunted...that will go badly. Wiser to go find her on your own terms. I think this applies to ordinary guys too not just athletes.Repatriate wrote:The problem is the type of woman to orbit an athlete's social circle is most likely the type you should not marry under any circumstances
The women charm the rich men to death and these rich men fall for it.
Just like the guy who works at Google who was worth 20 Billion dollars and still got married.

Tis True. Kobe fits the profile of one of these academically & athletically smart fellas, who's not too wily in the world of reality.sushiman wrote:Because the guy is good deep down just a little dense, while the women is scum sucking filth deep down. That's how.
So while he was living in Italy with his dad, learning languages and being this sort of bright kid along with his hoops talent, he sort of never 'got it' that women, esp those in LA metro, are gold digging witches in disguise.
Thus, as a straight from high school to NBA type of legend, he'd never figured out that top athletes have been banging 'hoes throughout their NCAA careers and thus, have more experience with the wenches out there.

Missing points all over. While I agree with your general thought that these type of men should not get married until after their playing career is finish is a valid one, given that divorce doubles in every major sport after retirement.Repatriate wrote:No he never should have gotten married and neither should have Tiger Woods. Kobe, Tiger, Patrick Ewing, Parker and many others have poked women other than their wives at various times. That is apart of being a Basketball, Football, Baseball wife.
You either accept it or you don't.
Both Tiki and MJ are going to marry women 15 years or more younger than themselves. There careers are over, thus its okay to do this.

So money is only important when you have some?Repatriate wrote:Marriage for these guys is probably the worst legal and financial liability they can enter into with no upside to it.
As I said that is one of the root problems in society. Why it is okay to criticize women for taking advantage of a justice system when men again largely allowed it because they felt the drug war, wars abroad and pushing back against Affirmative Action were the things that needed focus?
If you don't live in NYC or LA then you have no idea, but I know there is plenty of p***y available and not scraps off the table but prime cut, high grade p***y. Educated, often Beautiful and usually White. There is no need to get married when your a famous athlete until you retire. Because the game checks go away and often you'll have to cut back your lifestyle if you're unable to repeat that sort of income either working in the media or with private businesses. That will prove these women are not marrying you for money. Maybe for status and prestige but not money. This is why women don't marry men that don't offer them increased status or prestige....
But its this lust for money is the problem here, eliminate that and much of this problem goes way.

Uh, Kobe stuck his dick into a very attractive young blonde woman in Colorado who screamed "Rape" later on. That is until her ex-BF outed her as a sexually active, some would say "freak" in the sheets, who had many sex partners. She got hush money, but rumor has it Kobe's womanizing didn't come to complete stop. He just kept it on the DL (Down Low) until the heat (The Media) was off him.PeterAndrewNolan wrote:Just remember guys...not even Kobe Bryant is "good enough" for a husband.
As I said they can still find hot women after their playing days -

djfourmoney,
we all know that if a man has sex outside of marriage he is a "scumbag cheater" but when a woman has sex outside of marriage its because the man is a terrible husband who could not keep "princess" happy.
I was faithful for my 23 year relationship with my wife, 18 years married. In that time I traveled extensively including ASIA, Russia, eastern europe.
When I was getting divorced and pointed out that I had been faithful and asked what respect that was worthy of my wife told me "I do not believe you, all men cheat, so you must have cheated too."
THAT is what not "cheating" is going to get you in divorce. And ALL the other women are going to presume you cheated too. So staying faithful will earn a man precisely NOTHING in divorce. I would never be monogamous again. I do not recommend it to other men. It has no value to women aside from hating on you and calling you names.
AFTER women start valuing monogamy THEN men might be well advised to be monogamous again.
It is for good reason that I recommend men put their money in Switzerland. Divorce will clean out most men. Few men have USD150M as a stash that they can afford to lose 50 to 60% of. Remember my case was 95% to the ex for denouncing the legal fraternity as criminals.
