Most overrated Cities in the US
Most overrated Cities in the US
Atlanta-- I see it as a bigger version of Memphis which is not good at all
Los Angeles- I have never been there, but I hear the natives **** about it a lot. I would love to go there though.
Philadelphia- I only rode a train through here, but it looked like ****

LA. Very oppressive city vibes. Take it from a born and bred SoCal guy. Modern day bablyon jaded with corruption, scandal and narcissistic superficiality and fag central (West Hollywood).
SF is also on my short list of most overrated American cities. Socialist-mania with a huge homeless population, anti-gun/constitution, Obama-loving bleeding heart liberal epicenter.

Chicago, one of the "fattest cities in America." It also has the highest murder rate of any city in the country. Also, Chicago has the highest sales tax of any city in the USA. One more thing, the city of Chicago has the most expensive parking meters in the United States.
Not to mention the cold and snowy winters and the hot and humid summers.

I don't have a problem with Los Angeles, but I'm not White so maybe that's it.
Minorities complain about the cost and move to Texas or somewhere else in the Southwest.
Whites complain about Government, the minorities and the cost and move to rural Washington, Idaho, Oregon and Arizona.
Whatever, don't let the door hit ya. You couldn't pay me (and they have tried) to move to another state in America. I won't do it!
I am moving South and maybe in a decade or so, I will return. I'll be coming back regularly anyway.

One time I went to LA I could not get a taxi to stop for me. I had this problem in NYC too and wearing a suit and tie doesn't matter either. Thankfully my company has a car I can call when I go to NYC. If I need to fly to China, I just avoid LAX as a stop point. I don't want in-and-out burgers that badly...
I was going to go LAPD but I turned down my conditional offer for employment and academy attendance. My retired LAPD contacts (one hispanic PIII and a black Sergeant) strongly persuaded me to look at other departments for a law enforcement career to avoid getting f***ed over. From what they explained to me, TPTB we're implementing a scheme to send white male boots (probationary officers) to heavy black areas of the 77th, Southwest or Southeast divisions, for the specific reason of attrition and washing out during their probationary period so they could be replaced with more minority officers to fill department minority quotas. As crazy as Dorner was, both my contacts agree that what Dorner said about reverse racism in the department was true...that black officers are taking it out on white officers as a form of retribution for all the racial shit slinging given to them during their rookie days.djfourmoney wrote:I don't have a problem with Los Angeles, but I'm not White so maybe that's it..
Boston's a great city for a gay guy. There are two fully established gay communities, one in the South End neighborhood in the city and the other, at Provincetown MA, by the far end of the Cape Cod peninsular region, easily accessible by high speed ferry from downtown.
For straight men, very so-so
, except for one thing ... 5+ hour drive to Montreal City
But for me, if the choice was between let's say NYC vs Boston, I'd take Boston in a heartbeat.

Beware of long term engagements with AWs, you may find yourself in a coffin.
AB discussion thread
BTW, despite settling down with an AW, myself, the warning is still in effect.

I think Seattle is alright, but nowhere near as amazing as the media portrays it. People talk like it's a super cool, mysterious gem up there in the corner of the country. It does have a bit of a cool vibe, a nice skyline, waterfront, surrounding natural scenery and the Jimi Hendrix museum is cool. However, the people are low-energy and aloof, the whole city and surrounding neighborhoods are very lethargic. Downtown Seattle is full of creepy bums (probably laid off boeing and microsoft employees). Everytime I've been to Seattle, it was cloudy and dreary looking, no wonder the suicide rate is so high. Seattle is also not as ethnically diverse as other big U.S. cities, it's still a bit of a whitopia up there with some token asians, blacks and hispanics scattered about.
I suspect Portland may also be over-rated since it sounds like a watered down knock-off of Seattle, but I haven't been there myself so won't comment. I think inland/rural Washington State, Oregon and Idaho is the better PNW experience, interesting terrain and the people seem friendlier. Richland/Tri-cities, WA is a quirky little town with nice people. I never been to Spokane, but I've met a few peeps from there and they were super cool folks.

I think it's the continuous overcast and rainy weather which does Seattle in.fightforlove wrote:I think Seattle is alright, but nowhere near as amazing as the media portrays it.
A city without regular sunshine is not a place to live in.
Even during the coldest winters, the city of Boston has sunshine, despite the thermostat reading 10 to 25 degrees. And believe it or not, having that sunshine in a cold season makes all the difference in the world because one can always dress up or stay indoors and crank up the thermostat indoors, while opening the shades.
