That estimation is not an exaggeration. Most are ill-prepared and don't have the proper back-up equipment (solar units, generators) for essential ADL. They haven't stockpiled food and guns + ammo either, nor do they have livestock or crops for an emergency SHTF situation like this. Also, once electricity goes out, law enforcement and other public services and their communications will be severely compromised. Response times will be pretty much null. Police won't be protecting anyone at that point -- they will be protecting themselves, and their own families. Without guns or other practical weapons, you can't hunt, which would be your only option for food. No luxury of refrigeration and grocery stores have been ransacked with the shipping grid crippled. Good luck holding off angry mobs and looters who will be scavenging for food too. Americans are fools to think that an Egypt-like scenario wouldn't happen here.
