Advice on Germany?

Post by eurobrat »

Hey dudes, not sure but do any members have some former experience in living in Northern Germany? I'm looking for advice to avoid any pitfalls like I did here in Italy.

Any help would be appreciated as I'm moving soon.

Hey eurobrat, what city are you interested in moving to in Germany? We did have some guys on this forum who did live in Germany for a while. I know Adama lived in Germany when he got out of the military, not sure what city he lived in. I know he said he loved Germany, the women were friendly and flirtatious.

We have other guys here who have traveled throughout Germany on vacation and loved the country. Berlin is considered the least expensive big city to live in, in all of Europe. I am saving money so I can travel to Berlin next summer and maybe have some job interviews lined up.

The more research I do on Germany, the more I think it's the perfect country for a single guy to live in. :D

What are you basing this off of?

Holy Jesus eurobrat, let us know how things go for your in Berlin! 8)

Do you have an apartment picked out yet? I have done some research and found that you can get a one bedroom furnished apartment in Berlin, for $850 a month! This apartment is near the train and the bus stops right out in front of the building! The building also has a workout facility and a sauna! 8)

Do you have a job lined up yet? If so, in what field of work?

All the research I have done shows that Germany is the best country to live in for single men. I am learning German right now so I will be somewhat fluent in it by the time I travel to Berlin next summer. :D

From various discussion forums and from a couple of guys I have worked with who used to live in Germany.

The great things about Germany is it's one of the least expensive countries to live in, in all of Europe. It has the strongest economy in all of Europe (and the fourth strongest economy in the world).

P4p is legal and cheap, the average hoe charges only 60 euros. Brothels are all over the place. Berlin has over 500 brothels! :D

Germans get 6 weeks of paid vacation a year. They also get 12 paid holidays. No company in America gives such generous time off.

I swear to God and sonny Jesus, I can not wait to travel to Berlin Germany next year. I am learning German now so I can be as fluent in it as possible when I go there! :D

Yes, in the best area of Berlin.

You can get it for cheaper than that. I rented a furnished room from a German girl for about €490 all bills included. It's only for 7 months then I have to find another place. She's going to Australia to spend time with her bf.

Yes I will continue my telecommute job I had here in Italy up there. It's freelance work but I'm doing account management and cold calling.

The cheapest is about €130/hour, I doubt a girl would do half hour sessions. Berlin has 500? Or do you mean Germany has 500?

Be very careful with Berlin guys, I was there for a couple of days and it didn't seem that nice. There were tons of dudes in groups at night and it seemed they weren't getting any action from regular girls.
I wouldn't establish myself there. There seems to be better "ratios" in other cities, like Hannover or Munich.

German girls are real nice I think. Polite and cute.
Although some of them do see 'through' you as if you were a 'ghost', American style, there is just no comparison to the US dating wasteland.
I hope to go back there some day, but It think by then I will be too spoiled by Asian girls to enjoy it.

Really? Where did you stay? I was just there in February and the area I stayed was pretty nice and high-end. The girls were really nice, cute and very helpful. Also the German girls have high English fluency, and Berlin was rated one of 2nd best english speaking cities in continental Europe.

The problem with Berlin is its an Aesthetic shit hole.

Although I didn't find them flirty, I'm not saying the girls were bad, but rather that I saw too many dudes, I'm always wary of that.
Again I only stayed for a couple of days. I hope you find another perspective for us on your longer stay.

I don't really see that as a plus, to be honest.

Totally agree with that

I saw the opposite, I saw lots of cute young girls. It depends on the neighbourhood you're in and what you were doing.

Well unless you plan on learning their language from start to finish and top to bottom, it is an advantage. German isn't super hard if you're mother tongue coming from English but like learning any language it takes years and I'm starting to get too old. When your dealing with a girl who's 2nd language is English at least you have something to fall back onto while learning her language.

Euro girls either like their own native men or they like exotic foreigners.

Guys who are different/exotic from other countries tend to do well in Europe.

I hear a lot of guys on HA saying how bad Europe is for dating and it all depends on what ethnicity you are or your current status or how well you blend in with the European social scene.

Very good looking or rich foreign white guys, the native men, black, asian and latino males do very good in Europe.

You gotta be unique to make it in Europe or have some very good social skills or other kinds of status.

Since it's apparently easier to make social connections in Europe than in America, I would work that avenue.

Guys who dress nice have an advantage in Europe.

It's easier to make friends in Europe than America, that's for sure.

Sorry but this had absolutely nothing to do with what I posted.

I talked to Think Different is now in Germany. Both him and I have been chewed up and spitted out when it comes to trying to expat and settle in Italy.

I'm hoping Berlin will be different because I'm running out of cities I would want to live in Europe. I still really like Europe mostly for the food, sights and history. Also the women are thinner over here theres not much of an obesity problem.

So I guess I will keep on trucking away.
