Everything is Gone or Sold Out

Post by Light »

It seems everything has now sold out online and offline.

Now I learned my lesson. Keep an extra 6-9 months of everything in stock just in case something like this happens again.

I should have bought more soap and other products before everything went to hell.

Mistake I made was buying a week of food. Now I have to eat that before buying anything new. Going to the grocery store is my only daily excursion.these days. Otherwise I have to stay in my hotel room. Though I guess I can buy a few more fresh tomatoes like I did yesterday. Shelves are fully stocked here in Spain, no signs of panic buying other than last Saturday when I bought my week of food.

Yesterday I went to the supermarket. There is a limit of only 2 bottles (gallons) of water per customer, and only 2 bottles of hydrogen peroxide per customer. I usually buy 3-4 gallons of water at a time. One bottle was confiscated at the register.

The buffet food at the food court was put into individual containers, which are not very convenient because I certainly don't want to buy one large container of just one type; I want to mix and match foods, but I'd have to buy more than I need the way it's set up, which defeats the point of "buffet".

Meat shelves were bare. I'm going again in a few minutes to a different store to try to stock up.

Here the shelves are bare of weird shit. We know about toilet paper and hand sanitiser, but there is also stuff like tampons and various other womens products. Weird.

I just got back from another supermarket. I arrived there at 5:40 AM. There was already a line of about 20 people waiting outside. I read the notice on the door. This supermarket that's normally open 24 hrs a day was closed from 12am to 6am for sanitizing. So I had to wait 20 mins, but I waited in my car, not in line.

The store is normally almost empty at 6am but it was almost as packed as it is during regular hours.

This store also has a limit of two water jugs per customer. Strictly enforced by cashiers.

There was no ground beef. So I picked up some sweet italian saugages. :) No hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol.

Good. The boomers will not be able to save themselves. May they die the horrible deaths they deserve. I hope they are squirming in the meantime.

I don't even think either one is very effective against viruses anyhow. And I never use bleach.

Boomers tend to have lots of bonds and cash savings, which are doing fine. It's a myth that most boomers keep most of their money in stocks. Plus boomers are either getting are will soon get social security and other pensions. And many own their own homes. So as the economy collapses, it will be the young people who get hurt worse. The people dying are mostly 70+, meaning generation just before boomers (born before 1950). Young women who lose their jobs as waitresses, baristas, etc will increaseing turn to sugar daddying with viagra and TRT fortified boomers like me and CE, even though competition means prices will be dropping so each boomer can afford several sugar babies rather than just one. Poor Cornfed. Even fewer young women will be interested in broke guys like him than before.

We all allowed this civilization to be set up in this manner for the last 50 or 60 years. I think a nice die off for stupidity is in order. The Commies are actually pretty smart and know what they are doing un-like the sheople...

Lol, when I would say I'll laugh at the likes of you choking on your own bile I didn't think I meant it literally, but apparently I did. Godspeed your exit from the planet from this virus.

Went last night at 10pm to make a "booster" run. We stocked up on all the essential stuff at Costco before this whole situation blew up, so now I make quick late-night runs every 7-10 days.

The cheap meats (eg chicken, pork) were sold out, as were frozen vegetables, toilet paper, etc. They had paper towels and tons of water.

Other than that everything else was fine. Only 4 other people shopping at that time which was super nice.

A couple visiting a Kroger supermarket in Louisville, Kentucky, on Tuesday attempted to purchase 23 cases of Mountain Dew - a whopping total 552 cans.

Some companies are earning obviously huge money because of this corona-virus hystery. Sounds to be to be an artificial shortage made on purpose.
It is impossible for USA to be sold out of food items, toilet paper and other daily articles within a few weeks.
Somebody is holding back stuff in large warehouses etc. and will sell later with higher prices.

I am here in Japan and everything is normal, everywhere you can buy whatever you need.
We do not have any stock at home, just food for a few days or so. We use very little toilet paper, as we have - like many Japanese - a full automatic washlet in our restroom.

Of course it's possible. Toilet paper was a very predictable business until recently. X million rolls sold per month, so that's exactly what the factories produce, automated and running 24 hours/day, 365 days/year for efficiency. Maybe a small amount of excess capacity to handle machine breakdowns and maintenance. Plus very lean inventories since everything was so predictable until recently. All it takes is for a substantial fraction of the panicked herd to buy a month's supply in advance and boom, it takes weeks for the system to catch up. Though they will catch up eventually.

No shortages here in Spain, even though there is lockdown. On the contrary, shelves full and fewer people in stores than normally, buying much less than normal. I think ordinary people are terrified their incomes are going to fall like in 2009 and they are already cutting back.
