Russian 'Shared Values Visa' Fancy it?

Post by yick »

No excuses now kids for a life of 'Happier Abroad'.

The Russians will give you a three year (shared values) visa to go and live and work in Russia which will lead to permanent residence, you don't need a job offer, you don't need to know any Russian - you can just apply for the visa and off you go - away from the 'woke' governance that is ruining your lives.

https://ac.news/the-pros-and-cons-of-mo ... -new-visa/

Open to people from most western countries, meaning most of you are eligible.

I have been thinking about this. I speak Russian at B1+ level and read at C1, so Russia better than Ukraine in that respect, since my Ukrainian is just basic (though all educated Ukrainians in Kyiv speak either Russian or English or both as second language). Moscow will likely be much more expensive than Kyiv after war ends. I can afford the higher price level, but I've gotten used to the luxurious feeling of being top 1% in the countries I visit, whereas I'd likely be just top 10% in Moscow after war ends.

One concern I have about Russia is that I will be used for propaganda purposes by Russian government (television shows and social media posts about me), and that will compromise my ability to return to Kyiv, in case I decide I prefer Kyiv to Moscow. Another is that it is a much bigger hassle to get permanent residency in Russia than Ukraine, even with this new traditional values visa program. Also, while I am no friend of woke-ism, I am not exactly the sort of traditional church-going family-oriented hard-working man Russia probably wants for their values program. On the contrary, I'm an irresponsible drifter who would set a bad example for young Russian men: never married, no children, no permanent place of abode, no job or other socially beneficial activity for most of his life, no loyalty to his birth country but rather thinks of USA as merely issuer of his passport document, pays younger women for sex, etc.

Since I mentioned paying younger women for sex... I talked to my Ukrainian girl in Ireland about moving to Russia, but she is concerned she will be harassed in Russia because she is Ukrainian, plus she has family and other connections in Kyiv. So she isn't currently interested in Russia.

I'm probably going to visit Argentina summer of 2025. I've been planning to visit there for a long time and pieces finally falling into place to make the trip happen. Ukrainian girl might go with me, or might not because she doesn't want to risk losing her Irish residence visa. After that, assuming war over by winter 2025-2026 (year from now), I'll return to Kyiv. If Kyiv no longer pleasant place to live, or Ukrainian girl has moved on in life, then I might indeed switch from Kyiv to Moscow starting in 2026 as my winter/summer home.

Ukraine is much worse in this regard. UK is no better than Russia. UK doesn't kill people for trying to undermine the government (though it might jail them forever like Assange until he broke and signed a deal) but UK is much less tolerant than Russia about criticism that is not directly threatening government overthrow. Watch what happens in UK if you criticism Israel or support the Palestinians or say that trannies are not real women.

Question is what you really believe, because trying to keep your mouth shut about a government you hate is difficult and nerve wracking. So the wiser path is live under a government you support and then you can speak freely. I detest the current Ukrainian government so that place is a no go for me until the government changes. I also detest the current and previous British governments and especially UK policy regarding Israel/Palestine, so UK is transit only for me for now (flights through Heathrow). I like some things about Trump but am worried he might drive the USA off a cliff, which is why I voted against him. However, no one in USA cares about my criticism of Trump or other aspects of USA government, so USA okay place for me to live part-time. I admire Putin, and I support the Russians in their war against Ukraine, and I support the Russia-China-Iran alliance in their struggle against USA war-mongering, and my only criticisms of Russia are criticisms the government accepts (namely, I think liberal western-oriented thieving oligarchs still have too much influence in Russia), so unlikely I will get into trouble speaking my mind in Russia. Southern Europe also okay for me, since I don't have strong opinions about those governments plus no one cares about me or what I say in southern Europe. It's the British and other Northern Europeans who try to control people's speech and thinking.

If you're British, it isn't without risk, British citizens have been jailed in the UK on their return for joining the Russian army - even before the Ukraine invasion as it is deemed an act of treason - I don't know why as we're not at war with Russia but it looks like we are and these days, you can be stripped of your British citizenship if you are entitled to another nationality if you commit an act of treason even if you were born in the UK. Would taking a 'shared values' visa be an act of treason to the British government? More than likely, would the Russians try and make some PR capital out of someone applying and getting such a visa - more than likely.

The UK is a police state in many ways, you can be arrested for what you say and thrown in jail and that has happened but the worst thing for the likes of me is that they can strip my British citizenship, at the moment it is for acts of treason but bet your life it will spread to other areas where they can just get rid of you at their discretion and you can't appeal it nor do they have to give you notice - it's going down a dangerous path for the ordinary person.

I would like to take out a Russian 'shared values' visa in the future when Russia is at peace. I love Russia but at the moment, the British government see Russia as the enemy and any engagement will end up in a prison sentence or worse.

Through this program putin wants to take Western hostages so we can use them as bargaining chips. I would definitely not go for this program or go to Russia while putin is still alive. I'd wait until he's dead. Sure there's a lot of beautiful women in Russia but it's not worth losing your life or being imprisoned or held hostage

Of course, Putin is not someone who I would trust to put my future into his hands either. I would moreso if there was peace and the sanctions were lifted but yep, it could get dicey pretty quickly in this day and age.
