Christian Fundamentalist Propaganda

Post by tom »

Some of the propaganda is amazing, I could never come up with some of the things they invent.

This got me thinking about this song, a famous song about social climbers and gold diggers. God knows most churches are sure full of these kinds of women. The famous song about this, and I'm sure we've all heard it, is known as Stairway to Heaven by Led Zepplin.
You would think Christan fundamentalist would take the song at face value. The typical church is packed with social climbing gold digging women, does this make a good Christian woman? But they did not, they played the song backwards and claimed to find satanic massages. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backmasking
You have got to think WTF?
The songs author was shocked and depressed, how could someone come to such a radically different idea of the songs meaning.
In fact this bullshit when so far as to get bills introduced to make this imaginary "backmasking" practice illegal.

Its a prime example how crazy and blatantly false ideas can get.

The prime example how crazy and blatantly false ideas can get is modern liberalism. Questions about religion are basically unanswerable, you just believe what makes sense to you. But liberals say things that are obviously false. For one, that men and women are equal, meaning basically the same. This is about as crazy and obviously false as saying that the sky is green. Another obviously false statement is that civilization doesn't require religion. Every successful culture in history depended on a moral system provided by a religion, whether Greek gods, Roman gods, Confucianism, or Christianity.

Look at all the atheist societies like China, North Korea, Cambodia, Nazi Germany, and Communist Russia in the past; millions of people killed all in the name of the 'State.' All those societies banned religion or suppressed religion to such a degree that many religious believers were prosecuted for their beliefs. Atheistic societies have done far more harm to humanity than religious countries ever have...

Sir, with all due respect, a lot of what you are saying is just untrue. For instance, it sure as hell wasn't Atheists who were raping Negro slave women and beating and killing Negro slave men during the pre-Civil War era. Also, Atheists were not responsible for the Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, nor the Salem Witchcraft Trials, which were responsible for the slaughter of millions of innocent men, women, AND children. And you're wrong about Nazi Germany-- Adolf Hitler said in his book "Mein Kampf" that, by slaughtering millions of innocent Jews, Gypsies, homosexuals, etc. he was doing the work of his Saviour (Jesus Christ). Also, Atheists sure weren't responsible for taking the land of Native Americans and killing off many of them, either by the sword, the gun, or disease. True atheists just do not believe in ANY religion (but atheism is NOT a religion; just the lack of belief in one).

By the way, atheistic societies may have caused harm in the past, but you can not deny that religious groups (namely Christians and Muslims) have been responsible for most of the worst atrocities/mass slaughter committed against humankind throughout world history. You must also remember the ancient Mayans (or was it the Aztecs?), whose religion required them to sacrifice someone EVERY DAY in order for the sun to rise (correct me if I am wrong there).

That is why I disagree with your statement that "atheistic societies have done more harm to the human race than religious societies ever did:.
Wielding the blade of evil's bane, he sealed the dark one away and gave the land light. This man, who traveled through time to save the land, was known as the Hero of Men. The man's tale was passed down through generations until it became legend...
