I found this article on BBC's website. Not surprisingly, I haven't seen it on American websites yet. I think the US is simply a third-world country with a first-world military. Countries like Brazil are now improving rapidly, while the US continues its decline. Who knows, maybe in ten years Mexican border police will be keeping illegal American immigrants out of Mexico.

I don't think the United States in general will ever become a third world nation anytime soon, it's too high up on the economic ladder at the moment to see that happening within our lifetimes. However I do think that there are parts of the U.S. dropping down to 2nd world status, and this is mainly due to a number of factors such as current immigration policies of the last couple decades, current education system and all the out of control litigation and lawyers controlling the court and political system.
Basically we are not screening out immigrants that come from countries with various medical problems as well as cultures that are totally not assimilated to a 1st world environment. They are coming from 3rd world countries and we are allowing them to bring their backward cultures with them and in the name of "equality", "tolerance" and political correctness. We are allowing political refugees that do not have any education and just become a part of the poor labor pool that will rely on government spending to help them out. Which in turn makes the government bigger and people less inclined to shrink it in the future, but keep expanding it.
Immigration is good if we use a proper screening process such as what Australia uses, a rigid point system. We need to eliminate anchor babies (automatic citizenship for births on our territory) and not allow illegal immigrant children free public education, its draining our cities and towns of tax revenue because illegals don't pay as many taxes and send a majority back to Mexico or wherever. We should tax all money sent by companies such as western union, that would solve the problem a bit.
I could go on and on and if you're interested in this particular issue then you know a majority of what's being discussed for solutions but what the media and politicians are afraid to openly discuss for fear of being labeled as racist or something.
I'm in favor of quality immigrants that will bring valuable skills to the country and help develop it. If we keep letting in turd world countries with no education, religious fanaticism or little motivation to adopt American culture it will just slowly keep bringing down the overall living standards of America. The balkanization of America will happen, especially if we cannot keep English as the common, standardized language recognized and used in the country. When you start recognizing other languages as culturally equal it degrades the education systems ability to properly get kids to learn English at a high level. English is a very difficult language to master even for a native speaker and when you mix it up with forcing kids to learn other languages and cultures at the same time it degrades the overall use of both languages. Other languages should be learned but at a later age once English has a solid foundation. Probably middle school and up is a good age to start learning other languages in conjunction with the mastering of English.
There is nothing wrong with imposing the American culture as the dominant culture to be learned in school. If your in America and want to be American one should not have cultural affiliations with the country or culture of their ancestors, there is little point. It just breeds more intolerance of each other and separates people instead of uniting them. What will eventually happen in the U.S. is if things start going really bad sometime in the future there will be cultural and race wars among groups of people and perhaps a split of the country.
I'm not saying it will for sure but right now America is only united on face value, underneath there is much animosity towards different types of people and I think this will just keep getting worse as people become more and more afraid to speak their real mind about cultural and race issues. Everything just gets bottled up and then will eventually explode when the shit hits the fan one day. No other country stereotypes each other more than Americans themselves and it's going to bite us in the ass one day. The other Latin American countries have mixed heritages and they see themselves as whatever country they live in, not blacks, whites, Asians, from some distant country of their ancestors.
Instead of America being a "melting pot" we are becoming a "chamber pot"!

I think you mean the thugs of any racial/ethnic background whom live in the USSA, correct?gordan wrote:You said it better than I. I shudder to think what is going to happen when it does hit the fan. The black and hispanic populations are already barbaric in this country with a sense of entitlement and victimhood, hence the chip on their shoulder, so imagine how they are going to be when the economy gets worse and the dollar collapses.
