With the number of cases in the US in the news every now & then, I have to ask: what are your opinions on this activity, particularly when secondary school students are involved? Do you think it's OK & shouldn't be forbidden? Do you think the laws on this type of activity are OK?
What are the laws on this subject in nations outside the US? Should standard consent laws apply or should there be greater restrictions? Is this activity considered a normal part of life outside the US?

If the students are above the legal age of consent, it is not illegal. However, it is unprofessional because it disturbs the order of the educational institution and throws it off kilter. If a love is born, then a tacit agreement should be reached that the couple should pursue the whole thing after the graduation or after one of the two people leaves the school.
I am not aware of any country anywhere that condones an open, ongoing student-teacher relationship - it is viewed as almost incestuous. However, in most of the world people would agree that if they are no longer student/teacher, then it should be OK. So, if it is true love, they can wait until they are out of this status and then pursue it.

A brain is a terrible thing to wash!
