Stop Making Youtube Videos!

Post by rudder »

Youtube sucks. There's a gazillion people competing against each other to outdo one another's clickbait. I never thought I'd miss the days when there was only network television. There's no quality control nowadays. Videos are almost a complete waste of time. If you want information, look for books...preferably books published before everyone starting making their own ebooks. I miss libraries. I miss information-rich resources. The youngsters of today are really going to end up the stupidest generation in the history of the world.

Youtube was great about 12-15 years ago. Lots of people wouldn't bother creating content then unless the quality of the message was sufficient to carry its own weight. The algorithm wasn't screwed yet back in those days either. I remember Loose Change and Alex Jones showing up in my feed all the time, so it wasn't censored to death yet either. It doesn't matter though., bitchute, rumble, odysee, the vast majority of content on all platforms is crap. Go read a book. Stop trying to compete humping the algorithm and bringing down the net productive output of the world. You're being played.

I don't agree. People vibe with different people. People get animated by personal connection. So it is thinkable that there is value in more videos. But I could be wrong.

YouTube certainly sucks, but is there a viable alternative? It might be good in a way because us no-money beginners might get a chance without being overwhelmed by the medium money people, since any investment in a channel now is a sucker's bet.

Youtube is a giant sh*t pit. Better off investing your money into stocks and ETFS and receive dividends rather than trying to become Jew-tube influencer number "five million and one".

What is everyone going to do when the influencer bubble pops?

you missed my point. Influencers on instagram, tiktok, youtube, wherever, are due their day of reckoning. I don't think it's sustainable, just like I didn't think the tech bubble was sustainable. People will need to do actual work. Which means actually contributing something to the physical world. Not just the digital world.

When I wrote the original post this morning, I had watched a few videos on youtube. The videos just take too long to get to the point, which is an underlying trend I see with most videos people make nowadays. Their focus is on clicks instead of providing quality content. For example, I watched a video this morning that was 8 minutes long. The message that took 8 minutes to convey was that the guy prefers using an umbrella instead of rain jacket if he has to do something physically strenuous like hiking in the rain. It probably would've taken no more than 30 seconds for me to read an article conveying the same message the guy communicated.

I would say the algorithm is mostly to fault for this sort of thing. Truly educational content that communicates most effectively is buried beneath the onslaught of the constant jockeying for new content and getting the most amount of people to click and sift through 16 minutes of BS to find the 20 seconds of sought after info.

I must've misunderstood your question.

Yes, I agree. Not lot of useful content these days. You get tidbit of useful information layered with too much junk information. I had to waste
loads of time looking for the useful information. I don't think most people likes to do actual work because it's monotonous, grueling, thankless, and the salary is meagre compare to your "Get Rich Quick" and fueling your narcissism, Youtube Video spamming. That's why everyone starting from your 5th grader to your grandma wants to become Youtube Influencer these days.

Any huge site like YouTube wants one thing : Internet traffic. They want as many people coming to YouTube every single day. They will actively promote (boost) channels to people's feeds if those channels are marketable and will keep people coming back to YouTube. The channels that are not marketable, stay hidden and are not promoted.

YouTube wants 2 things. Tons of traffic and tons of advertising money. They will do this in any way they have to even if that means promoting content that is dumb.

I find the most success (in terms of actually learning about something) by actively seeking boring looking webinars or power point speeches from channels that are the names of universities or scientific conferences. Usually the most information-rich content I find has less than 1000 views.

Nah, actual work is for chumps. Besides, people can contribute to the physical world by helping others do stuff.

YouTube might suck for making money these days and is now increasingly under the dark shadow of censorship when it comes to any opinion that goes against the mainstream narrative, but for topics outside of the prohibitions of the thought police as well as for non-serious entertainment YouTube has a vast wealth of content if you know where to look and how to discern between quality and cheap clickbait.

I frequently use YouTube for various kinds of learning and information about substantial topics including but not limited to philosophy, history, esotericism, language learning, martial arts techniques and music theory. I also use YouTube to find rare music and compile vast playlists, watch playthroughs of classic games, and receive news about the MMA world. For more controversial topics such as conspiracies and the evils of the NWO, I watch videos of BitChute or check out some obscure website on the fringes of the internet.

The truth is that today there is more information available than ever. The internet can either be an unprecedented treasure trove of knowledge for those who have discernment and the motivation to learn, or a source of endless distraction and mind-numbing escapism for those who are stupid and without motivation.

There is some good content on there but it's being hidden and censored by the algorithm. When you want to watch a blackpill video it actually hides most of the best content and it instead gives you anti-blackpill videos by bluepilled faggots instead even though the blackpill videos are on the site. Youtube is trying to hide the blackpilled truth and I'm sure this is true with other topics as well. There also used to be plenty of conspiracy videos on Youtube before they started getting banned or hidden as well.

Also, another reason the algorithm promotes dumb content is because your average normie who goes online and watches this content is a dumbass. They prefer retarded shit on Youtube and TikTok over quality videos. Youtube used to be much better before normie retards starting using it, but normshits ruined the internet like they ruin everything else.

You Tube is not what it was at all but the only site I go to everyday is Gregory Mannarino. He used to be better but the SEC warned him about giving alerts out for people to sell and he saved alot of ass's with those alerts so he no longer does them. People have made good money listening to his advise..
