The only people who advocated no moderation were the trolls you banned, and "Arab". The silent majority supported your actions, at least most of them. You're just acting like a self-centered prima donna if you're deserting the forum when it needs you most. Why didn't you resign from your moderator status when the forum wasn't being flooded with trolls, so Winston had a chance to appoint a new one? Ya.. that's what I thought.

It's pretty much impossible to mod while having every decision reversed when some guy who registered a month ago cops a sob story to Winston and he's gullible enough to fall for it. I don't have time to screw around with politics and drama so i'll just let things develop as they may. I'm not being a primadonna about this i'm kind of indifferent. It's Winston's income and his site he's putting on the line not mine.

It's not that simple. Trolls will not stay within just one board. They will attack people on other boards too. They don't usually confine themselves, even if you tell them to.

Plus, I still don't see the difference between angry opinionated people who want to rant and get into heated debates/flame wars, and trolls. There are a lot of angry people on here who need to vent. That's what this board is for, to a certain extent - a healthy venting ground.

Also, some of those who were banned have apologized and are willing to work on their behavior. If someone apologizes, it's fair and nice to give them a second chance. But if they refuse to even apologize or change, as in OTA's case, then they are a lost cause, yeah. Nice compassionate people do give second chances to people who apologize.

But if you have itchy trigger fingers and ban too many people, even for the slightest things, then you might end up banning innocent posters as well. The mods in the Alex Jones forum are like that, and they've allegedly banned about a million people from there already.

All in all, I think if we just get rid of the worst trolls, things will be ok.

Sure there will always be heated flame wars. But most of us ignore them, and let them slide down into the archives. Some people just need to vent and rant. Besides, those flame war participants are not even here everyday. They heat up and then cool off, in natural cycles.

Hi all,
I talked to Rock and others last night, and slept on it. After some consideration, I realize that you guys were right. Repatriate did go a bit too far and went trigger happy with the banning, without much consideration for other people's feelings. And as a result, some innocent people suffered. I also don't think the problem was as bad as he claimed either. So I took him off mod status for now.

I'm not sure that a forceful, quick to judge type of mod is a good thing. Perhaps it's better to have one that's more empathetic, like me, because empathetic types will care more about other people's feelings and consider them before making decisions. While Repatriate is definitely a very clever, practical and insightful person, he is also very quick to judge and take action without considering other people's feelings first. I feel that such a person is probably not good for running a forum that is dedicated to open mindedness, free speech and truth.

Let's hope that he wasn't right that some of the guys he banned here were trolls who wanted to bring this forum down. I doubt that will happen though, at least not with the same people.

I usually have good judgment with people. And as long as they apologize, I'll give them a second chance, which everyone deserves. Those who apologize are honorable and show that they are reasonable at least. It's the lost causes that we have to get rid of.

On a final note, it's funny how many people blamed me for Repatriate's actions. I guess this goes to show that I do have a "victim vibe" after all, since my face must look like a target for people to blame, using any excuse they can - even if it's not directly my fault. This example just further reinforces the evidence for this mysterious recurring phenomenon. lol

Anyway, let's try to maintain healthy discussions and debates ok? If any more flame wars start, and you don't like it, then just ignore those threads (or posts if they are in your thread). Simple as that. I realize that these kind of things are very subjective in that everyone interprets an "attack or disruption" differently. But I'll do the best I can. In the meanwhile, try to control yourselves, and focus on the ISSUES, rather than on attacking or bringing down each other over differing viewpoints.

I actually requested to be demodded because it's fairly useless attempting to mod when you have someone who has a different set of personal policies and doesn't see trolling or gimmick personas as a big deal.

I simply don't have the time for that or arguing about drama pertaining to the forum. I hope Winston's new soft touch will be the right remedy. I kind of doubt it though seeing as where things were going for the last few months.

It's still interesting reading some of the users posts on here unless the valuable contributors such as Ladislav, Rock, Momopi, Mr. S etc.. start leaving.
