Why do Indians have a better work-life balance than East Asians?

Hey guys,

I have noticed that Indians(or at least Indian Americans and Indian-Canadians) also have high investment parenting.

However, one thing that has stand out for me is that Indians tend to be more laidback, creative and have better family relationships.

It seems to me Indians also want their family to succeed academically and financially. However, they do it at a more easy going pace. For instance, East Asians would be required to go to study 5 days a week. While Indians would only take extra 1-2 lessons a week.

Some East Asians also seem to have "conflictive" family dynamics. Where some East Asians would "resent" their parents.

Indians: High parental investment, but more easy going relationships.

East Asians: High parental investment but "intense" relationships.


I would said Indians are "East Asian" lite. Some Indians remind me of some Western Europeans who also value education but also other goals.
